Joan Laporta raises his tone against Real Madrid after Florentino Pérez's attacks over the Negreira case and sends a forceful message at the club's Christmas dinner.
Joan Laporta has decided to take a step forward. The president of FC Barcelona raised his tone as never before in his speech during the traditional Christmas dinner with players and club employees, taking advantage of the internal event to respond harshly to the attacks received from Real Madrid and, especially, to the accusations by Florentino Pérez in relation to the Negreira case.
Far from opting for a conciliatory message, Laporta used the stage to assert Barça's institutional strength and distance himself from the white club, which he accused of crossing ethical and moral lines. A speech loaded with symbolism, aimed both internally and externally, at a moment of maximum tension between the two entities.
Laporta Defends Barça's Reputation and Values
In his speech, the Barça president wanted to emphasize that Barça remains "a respected, recognized, admired, and loved club," underscoring the historical and social dimension of the entity. Laporta insisted that external attacks have not weakened the club, but rather have strengthened internal cohesion and the sense of belonging.
"I suppose you know who I'm referring to, those who are the architects of permanent smear campaigns against our emblem and our core values, and we will not allow that. They are the ones who confuse power with despotism. They are the ones who practice cynicism and disproportionate arrogance."
The leader made it clear that he will not allow campaigns that, in his opinion, seek to erode the club's shield and essence. Without directly mentioning Real Madrid, his message was unequivocal when referring to those who, according to him, confuse power with despotism and use their influence to systematically discredit Barcelona.
Harsh accusations against Real Madrid and its media environment
The most tense moment of the speech came when Laporta railed against what he defined as "permanent smear campaigns," pointing to practices that, in his opinion, violate all codes of conduct, not only sporting, but also ethical and moral. A message interpreted as a direct response to the recent statements by Florentino Pérez.
"They are the ones who have a shoddy television that only spews lies and constantly and permanently poisons. To them I say that Barça is strong again, on and off the pitch. And while they destroy and try to distort history --they won't succeed--. We are building a splendid era."
He was especially forceful when referring to certain communication channels linked to the Real Madrid environment, which he accused of "vomiting lies" and constantly poisoning the atmosphere. Laporta wanted to convey that Barça will not be dragged into that dynamic and will respond with institutional solidity and daily work.
"Barça is strong again," Laporta's final message
To conclude, the president launched a message of optimism and challenge: while others, in his words, try to destroy or distort history, FC Barcelona is building a new "splendid" era, both on and off the field. A clear warning that the club feels prepared to face any offensive
Joan Laporta's speech reinforces the feeling of a complete breakdown in institutional relations with Real Madrid and marks a clear line of confrontation. In a context of maximum media and judicial pressure, the Barça president has opted to close ranks and send an unequivocal message: Barça has no intention of remaining silent or taking a step back.
