Robert Lewandowski 'got wet' again against Daegu, thus closing the Asian tour with 2 goals in 3 appearances with Barça
FC Barcelona closed its tour of Asia with a 'manita' against Daegu FC (0-5). Again, Robert Lewandowski was a starter and, for the second consecutive match, he managed to score as he knows best: finishing as an area reference.
The '9' scored the partial 0-2 in the 27th minute, pushing into the goal a ball served by Gerard Martín from the side. The defender once again played the role of center back, but at that moment he projected down the wing and the Pole took the opportunity to score his second goal of the tour.
'Lewy' also shook the nets against FC Seoul, in that match opening the scoring after sending into an empty net a ball returned by the post, after a previous shot by Lamine Yamal. This was the experienced striker's first match as a starter in the summer, as against Vissel Kobe he came on after the break.
Lewandowski, a goal per game during Barça's Asian tour
Robert, although he did not score against Vissel, gave an assist that allowed Roony Bardghji to score his first official goal with the Barça shirt. In that sense, the Pole fulfilled his offensive quota, participating in one goal per game in his time in Japan and South Korea.
The man from Warsaw will turn 37 on August 21, five days after Hansi Flick's debut in LaLiga against Mallorca (Saturday, August 16 at 19:30 CEST). This will be his fourth and probably last season as a culé, but the '9' continues to demonstrate full validity despite his longevity.
Lewandowski, for now, has accumulated 101 goals in 147 official matches with FC Barcelona. The 24/25 season was, by far, his best season, adding 42 goals and 3 assists. In the coming year, the Pole will have the difficult mission of improving these records with one more year of mileage.
Hansi Flick already has his plan clear to manage Lewandowski in 25/26
In his first season at the helm of the culé bench, Flick kept the '9' as untouchable in his scheme, although he intelligently dosed his minutes in Liga, Copa and Champions. Of his 52 appearances, he only completed the 90 minutes on 20 occasions. In 25/26, Ferran Torres will once again start as the first alternative as far as center forwards are concerned.
However, the presence of Marcus Rashford will give the coaching staff greater peace of mind to dose the physical loads with 'Lewy'. The Englishman has already scored in Daegu during his first game as an area reference, a position he knows very well after his time at Manchester United and Aston Villa.
