Marc Casadó was a last-minute absentee for Barça against Celta due to a groin strain. Tests carried out on Monday confirmed a minor injury, with no major complications
Hansi Flick was forced to make a last-minute change to his lineup for the Celta-Barcelona match on matchday 12 of LaLiga. Marc Casadó, who was once again set to partner Frenkie de Jong in midfield, had to leave for the locker room due to a twinge in his adductor.
After being evaluated by Barça's doctors, the midfielder was ultimately ruled out of the match. Dani Olmo came in for him, forcing Fermín López to drop back several meters to play as an inside midfielder.
Finally, Casadó returned to the Ciutat Esportiva on Monday to undergo medical tests that would confirm the extent of his ailment. Fortunately, it is a minor injury in the adductor area, which is why Barça decided against issuing an official statement
The player from Sant Pere de Vilamajor will undergo specific exercises in the coming days to overcome the discomfort in the area. The international break, in that sense, is a godsend for him to rest and get back into physical shape for the upcoming league and Champions League matches.
When will Marc Casadó play for Barça again?
In principle, Marc will have no problem reappearing in the match against Athletic, on November 22 for matchday 13 of LaLiga. The '17' has accumulated 566 minutes spread across 12 games (7 as a starter), with one assist in the thrashing of Valencia (6-0)
With Pedri González out, Casadó has returned to the starting XI regularly, while Marc Bernal is regaining his competitive rhythm. The player from Berga has barely accumulated 32 minutes of action in 5 appearances this season, so he is still far from becoming a reliable alternative for Hansi Flick in midfield.
Frenkie de Jong will not be available against Athletic due to suspension (he was sent off against Celta for a double yellow), which means Marc Casadó's recovery will be key for matchday 13 of La Liga.Pedri is not expected back until the end of the month after his left thigh injury, while the Dutchman would return to action for the Champions League visit to Chelsea. Therefore, Fermín and Olmo must also remain in the starting XI against the Basques
Barça hopes to avoid further injuries during the international break
Jules Koundé also did not play against Celta, as a precaution, having already missed part of the last training session due to discomfort from a knock received against Bruges.
The defender is included in the France squad for the matches against Ukraine and Azerbaijan, the last in the World Cup qualifiers. This is why Barça is keeping a close eye on the physical condition of the defender and the rest of the players called up for the November FIFA international break.
Currently, five players are in the Barça infirmary, but **Joan García** and **Raphinha** are expected to be medically cleared next week. **Gavi** and **Ter Stegen** are, for now, the only long-term absentees
