Marcus Rashford is now officially registered as a player of FC Barcelona in LaLiga. The club managed to meet the requirements of financial fair play and the Englishman will be able to debut this afternoon against Mallorca.

Rashford, registered in LaLiga: available for Barça's debut against Mallorca

Marcus Rashford is now, officially, a player of FC Barcelona for all purposes. LaLiga has validated his registration this morning and the English forward will be available to Hansi Flick for the league debut this afternoon against Mallorca (7:30 PM, Movistar LaLiga). Goalkeeper Joan García has also been registered, thus closing a chapter of uncertainty that had Barcelona fans on edge.

A guarantee, a departure, and a signing: the formula for LaLiga's 'yes'

Rashford's registration has not exactly been an administrative walk in the park. To be able to register him, Barça resorted to a joint guarantee of 7 million euros approved by the board, with the aim of compensating for the imbalance generated by the club's sections. In addition, the long-term absence of Ter Stegen allowed space to be freed up in the salary cap and give entry to Joan García and Rashford himself.

The guarantee served to circumvent the delays derived from the pending validation of the income from the new VIP boxes of the Camp Nou, key to complying with the restrictive rule of fair play 1:1 imposed by LaLiga.

Flick already has his artillery ready

After several weeks of unknowns, crossed procedures and bureaucracy worthy of Kafka, Barça managed to complete the registration of the English attacker shortly after 10:30 in the morning. At that time, Rashford appeared on the official website of the competition and it was confirmed that he would travel to Mallorca with the group. The number 14 is already waiting for him.

The confirmation came after the club sent all the necessary documentation, including the international transfer. A simple formality, yes, but full of symbolism: Rashford is, finally, ready to debut.

Joan Laporta had anticipated it... with a smile

President Joan Laporta had already hinted at the good news at the Trobada de Penyes Barcelonistes de les Illes Balears: "If Flick wants, Joan García and Rashford can play in Mallorca." And so it has been. Both are in the squad and available from the start.

However, not all the news was happy in Can Barça. Other names such as Szczesny, Gerard Martín or Roony Bardghji have not been able to be registered in time and have stayed in Barcelona, waiting for the club to adjust their files in the coming days.

Trincao, the key link

Another minor detail: the sale of 50% of the federative rights of Trincao to Sporting was the last movement that generated sufficient economic margin to give the green light to the Rashford operation. A silent, almost invisible, but decisive gesture.

Barça hopes to be able to register the other pending players soon. Szczesny and Gerard Martín are expected to be available for the second matchday, as is Marc Bernal, although Flick is in no hurry with the youth player, the club has already stated that they want to wait a year since his operation, in order to ensure 100% his total recovery.
