Marcus Rashford has celebrated his first goal with the Barça shirt in the thrashing against Daegu, assisted by Eric García
FC Barcelona crushed the weak Daegu FC in the last friendly of the preseason Asian tour (0-5). As expected, the team led by Hansi Flick prevailed with authority against the bottom of the South Korean league, in a duel where Marcus Rashford celebrated his first goal with the culés.
In the 65th minute, the English winger, who had entered for Robert Lewandowski after the break, took advantage of a low cross pass from Eric García from the right side to finish first time with a dry left-footed shot, unstoppable for the rival goalkeeper.
His celebration, yes, was quite measured, according to the context of a match totally settled at halftime. Barça went to the locker room with a 0-3 lead, thanks to goals from 'Lewy' and Gavi (double).
Rashford demonstrates his potential as Barça's '9'
The '14' had already added an assist in the thrashing against FC Seoul (3-7), thus completing a very productive tour in which he had minutes in all three matches. Against Vissel Kobe (1-3), the Manchester player only played half an hour, but he also participated in one of the Catalan goals (the 1-2 scored by Roony Bardghji).
Against Daegu, Rashford played as a reference in the area, with Bardghji as a right winger and Toni Fernández attacking on the left side. The youth player had previously scored the partial 0-4 taking advantage of a through pass by Dani Olmo, who replaced Pedro 'Dro' Fernández as an attacking midfielder at halftime.
In that sense, Marcus begins to demonstrate his scoring ability to alternate the center forward position with Lewandowski and Ferran Torres. In addition to his goal, the '14' was also close to scoring in the 68th minute, but he barely reached another great low cross served by Olmo.
Flick adds more gunpowder to Barça's lethal attack
The Terrassa native managed the azulgrana attack against a Daegu totally surpassed in the complement. Thus, Hansi Flick will have many more alternatives in attack for a team that is a real blast in the offensive aspect. In total, Barça scored 15 goals in their Asian tour, with an average of 5 goals per match.
Ferran, as a precaution, did not see minutes on Monday, since he had been dragging some physical discomfort after Saturday's training. Among the field players, the only one without minutes in Asia was Marc Bernal, still waiting for the official medical discharge.
