FC Barcelona has recovered Andreas Christensen, who was injured for almost five months due to tendinopathy in his left Achilles
More great news continues to arrive for FC Barcelona. The Blaugrana team is in a state of genuine sporting ecstasy after being crowned champions of the 2025 Spanish Super Cup and advancing to the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey, all within less than a week. Now, a new and eagerly awaited medical clearance has been confirmed.
FC Barcelona, through its various social media channels, has confirmed in a brief statement the medical clearance of the 28-year-old Danish defender, Andreas Christensen. It is worth noting that the Allerød native was out of action for nearly five months (146 days) due to tendinopathy in his left Achilles, which even required surgery to fully resolve the issue.

Christensen to provide depth in the defensive area
Fortunately for the Catalan side, they have regained an important asset to strengthen their defensive line. A player that Hansi Flick has barely had under his guidance, as this season the defender has only been able to participate in one match, Barcelona's debut in the LaLiga EA Sports 2024-25 on August 17 against Valencia CF, where the Dane came on as a substitute for Pau Cubarsí in the 64th minute.
Since then, the German coach has been unable to count on Andreas Christensen, who missed a total of 28 games with the team. Now, after completing several training sessions regularly with the group, he will be able to rejoin the Catalan team's squad and, if Hansi Flick deems it appropriate, play some minutes, which is particularly important given the injury to Iñigo Martínez that has affected the defensive depth.
The Culé team has fewer and fewer players in the infirmary
With this new medical clearance, FC Barcelona only has three absences. In addition to Iñigo Martínez, whose absence is estimated at four weeks, there are only two seriously injured players left: Marc Bernal (ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in the left knee with damage to the external meniscus) and Marc-André ter Stegen (complete rupture of the patellar tendon in the right knee), who are not expected to return this season.
