The Barça Academy Camps lands in Menorca from July 14 to 18 in Es Mercadal. A unique training experience with official FC Barcelona coaches for young people born between 2010 and 2018.
This summer, the blue and garnet roar will resonate among the Menorcan pines. The Barça not only travels in private planes: it also lands in humble fields, where the future stars of football dream. And this time, it does so in Es Mercadal.
From July 14 to 18, 2024, the renovated Municipal Sant Martí field of Es Mercadal will host the Barça Academy Camps, the official FC Barcelona campus. This will be the first edition on the island of Menorca, an unprecedented opportunity for young people born between 2010 and 2018 to live a sports experience with the seal of the Barça club.
The activity will take place during the afternoons, in collaboration with CE Mercadal and the local City Council, which has supported the initiative from the beginning.
Blue and garnet training in a Menorcan key
It is not just about kicking balls with the Barça shirt, but about internalizing its methodology: a mixture of technique, tactics and values that has shaped legends like Iniesta or Xavi.
According to the Barça Academy itself, the objective is to "bring the club's training model closer to places far from the large urban centers".
Each session will be led by official club coaches, who will transmit the values that define FC Barcelona: effort, respect, teamwork, ambition and humility.
A milestone for youth sports in the Balearic Islands
The arrival of the campus in Menorca is not an anecdotal event. Barcelona thus consolidates its presence in the Balearic Islands and strengthens its role as a global benchmark in children's sports training.
"It is a historic milestone for Menorca and for the island's grassroots sport", emphasizes the club, which considers this step as a pioneering advance in the democratization of access to elite football.
While some dream of seeing Barça play at the Camp Nou, others—more fortunate—will train like them in Es Mercadal. Because sometimes football is not only played in the big stadiums, but where there is land, a ball and children willing to run after an illusion. This summer, Menorca will not be an island: it will be a quarry.
