Ronald Araujo is pushing his chances to be ready for the match against Rayo. The center-back is still not fully recovered from his ankle injury, but he is already training with the group.
Ronald Araujo caused a scare last Sunday after being forced to leave the match against Sevilla due to a strong blow to his ankle. Fortunately, medical tests ruled out any type of injury, but the Uruguayan defender has not been able to completely shake off the discomfort in the affected area.
However, the center-back, a true example of 'charrúa grit', is doing everything possible to be part of the azulgrana expedition that will travel to Madrid this Monday to face Rayo Vallecano. After not training with his teammates during the sessions on Thursday and Friday, the South American was able to participate in part of the exercises this Saturday alongside the group.
Araujo's presence in Vallecas is uncertain
If Araujo's feelings improve in the coming hours and the player can complete Sunday’s training at the same pace as his teammates, it is very likely that he will be included in the squad for the match corresponding to matchday 24 of LaLiga EA Sports. However, Flick has always made it clear that he does not like to take risks with his players, so the decision will wait until the last moment.
What is clear is that, if he travels with the squad to the capital, and barring a major surprise, he will not start against the team led by Iñigo Pérez. Fermín López will also be unavailable, as he must serve a one-match suspension after receiving a red card at the Sánchez-Pizjuán, along with injured players Ter Stegen, Marc Bernal, and Andreas Christensen, although the latter is nearing the final stages of his recovery and could return against Las Palmas next Saturday the 22nd.
