Pedri González will be out for Barcelona for the first time in 25/26. The midfielder has a tear in the distal biceps femoris muscle of his left leg and will be out for around a month
FC Barcelona confirmed terrible news for the first men's team on Wednesday. Pedri González, who was already confirmed to miss the match of matchday 11 of LaLiga against Elche due to suspension, has suffered a tear of the distal biceps femoris muscle in his left leg.
The '8' was not present in the return to work and the club confirmed the extent of his injury, but not the time he will be out. In principle, "the approximate recovery time will be determined by the evolution of the injury".
Last season, the player from Tegueste remained healthy throughout the entire year, after suffering up to 8 muscular injuries between 2021 and 2024. With his injury, the Barça infirmary now has 8 players out, although three of them are in the final stretch of their recovery. Robert Lewandowski, in fact, is aiming to play on Sunday against Elche.
How long will Pedri González be out?
In Pedri's case, since it's a hamstring tear, the most likely scenario is that he'll be out for around 3 to 4 weeks. In other words, the midfielder won't reappear with Barça until after the international break in November.
As such, the Spanish international will be out of the Champions League match against Brugge (November 5) and in La Liga against Celta (November 9). In addition, he would also be doubtful for the match at home against Athletic (Saturday the 22nd), which could be played at the Spotify Camp Nou if the club obtains the first occupancy license for phase 1B (45,000 spectators) in time.
Logically, the 22-year-old player will not travel with Spain for the last two matches of the 2026 World Cup qualifier, against Georgia (11/15) and Turkey (11/18). La Roja, with a win against Georgia and a draw against the Turks, will secure their qualification.
In any case, the main objective will be to get Pedri back for the Champions League match against Chelsea. Hansi Flick's team will visit the 'Blues' on November 25 in what will be the toughest away game of the entire group stage for the Barça side.

For the moment, the midfielder was the player in the Barça squad with the most minutes played (1,099'), also being a starter in the 13 matches played by the team. Without the '8', the Catalans lose the brain of their engine room, a job that Marc Casadó and Frenkie de Jong will have to perform, at least, in the next 3 matches.
Considering the number of injuries in the first two months of the 25/26 season (already over a dozen), the coaching staff will take extra care with Pedri's return. The '8', like Raphinha, hopes to return after the next break, but the Brazilian's relapse last week is an alert that the club will not overlook with the recovery of all its injured players.
