Playing at Mestalla? Barça's 'plan C' for the fourth La Liga matchday against Valencia

Despite the work at the Spotify Camp Nou continuing at full speed, for now, it does not seem certain that FC Barcelona can face their debut as a local team on the fourth matchday of LaLiga EA Sports 2025/26, which will be against Valencia CF.

That is why, in recent hours, a scenario has begun to be foreseen that favors the Catalan team, given the impossibility of playing the match at the Montjuic Olympic Stadium (the 'plan B'), due to the presentation of Post Malone on September 12, while the match will be between the 13th and 14th.

That is why the Blaugrana team seeks to exhaust all possible avenues to avoid continuing to give up matches at the Camp Nou, amid the restrictions derived from the works at the stadium, according to recent information.

In this context, the Catalan club has put on the table an alternative that would modify the usual order of the matches. This is a 'plan C' that suggests playing the first leg match at Mestalla, with Valencia as the home team, and celebrating the return match at the Blaugrana stronghold, provided that conditions allow it.

Changing the order of the matches, a problem for Barça

In this context, a major inconvenience facing the club stems from the fact that this reorganization directly affects the fans of the 'ché' team, who are in a situation of uncertainty.

The fans still do not know if they will have to go to Mestalla on a date not initially contemplated in the calendar, or if they will have to travel away from home to accompany their team without even knowing the destination.

Added to this is the fact that the 'Valencianista' club has already put on sale season tickets for the entire season, including the match against the Barcelona team in the second round, tickets that have already been purchased by numerous fans.

Likewise, several clubs would have complained because Barcelona is playing as a visitor, for now, until the third matchday, which will mean they have more home games in the final stretch of the season.

Montilivi, another option for Barça

In this vein, the possibility has also been raised that Barça will face the match as a home team against Valencia at the Municipal Stadium of Montilivi, the home of Girona. But, for the moment, there would be no negotiations in between to achieve this.

However, all options would start to carry weight if, apart from Montjuïc, the Spotify Camp Nou cannot be used, for which the club is waiting to receive the Final Works Certificate so that the City Council can subsequently grant the First Occupation License.
