Hansi Flick arrives at the match against Rayo Vallecano with an immaculate record in the capital. Find out if he can maintain his positive streak in Madrid
FC Barcelona will visit Rayo Vallecano on matchday three of LaLiga EA Sports 2025/26, in what will be the third away game for the Azulgranas. So far, Hansi Flick's team has won their away games against Mallorca at Son Moix and Levante at the Ciutat de València.
Now, the Culés will face a new challenge in Vallecas, a scenario that has not been particularly hostile for the German coach since his arrival at the Catalan bench. The only time the Barcelona team faced the franjirrojos under the tutelage of the German, they won 1-2 thanks to goals from Pedri González and Dani Olmo.
That victory, however, was marked by a painful event: the serious injury of Marc Bernal, who suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament and external meniscus of his left knee.
Hansi Flick and his record in Madrid: an almost perfect full house
Beyond that precedent, Vallecas is not the only Madrid scenario that has been good for the Heidelberg strategist. In fact, Flick maintains a very favorable balance against the teams of the Community of Madrid when visiting them:
- Real Madrid C.F. (one victory at the Santiago Bernabéu)
- Club Atlético de Madrid (two victories at the Metropolitano)
- Rayo Vallecano (one victory in Vallecas)
- Getafe C.F. (one draw at the Coliseum)
- C.D. Leganés (one victory in Butarque)
This is not just talk. Just review the recent history to verify it. It is convenient to start the count with the visit to the capital to face Real Madrid, which took place on October 26. The Culés ended up taking over the Santiago Bernabéu with an authentic walk: 0-4, where the LRL shone in all its splendor.
That crossing ended with a double by Robert Lewandowski, followed by a goal by Lamine Yamal and another by Raphinha. It was the first of a memorable series of results in favor of the blaugrana team against the merengues, with four victories in a row in the 2024/25 season.

Atlético, Leganés and Getafe: Flick does not forgive in the capital
In this same line, with Hansi Flick in command, the combined team from the Ciudad Condal also knew how to dispatch Atlético de Madrid at their home, a rival they visited on two occasions: the first, on March 16, 2024, for matchday 28 of LaLiga, and the second, on April 2, for the return of the Copa del Rey semi-finals. The matches ended with a 2-4 (goals from Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal and a double from Ferran Torres) and a 0-1 (goal from Ferran) respectively.

Another visit to Madrid from which the German coach emerged unscathed was against the cucumber growers team, against whom he prevailed in a match that culminated 0-1. On that day, the Culés enjoyed a touch of fortune, as the only goal of the match was an own goal by Jorge Sáenz, enough to get the match forward.
Finally, the only visit to the capital that Flick failed to settle with a victory last season was against Getafe CF. In that duel, developed on matchday 20 of LaLiga on January 18 of this year, it did not go beyond a draw with goals from Jules Koundé for the azulgranas and Mauro Arambarri for the azulones. Thus sealing an undefeated season in Madrid.
Will Hansi Flick manage to extend his positive streak in Madrid against Rayo Vallecano? Only time will tell.
