Ready for La Liga and Champions League? This is how the Spotify Camp Nou is progressing

Calendar of FC Barcelona

The FC Barcelona hopes to have the First Occupation license by the end of the month and the approval of the European Club Association (ECA) to reopen the Spotify Camp Nou in its first phase, which would house 27,000 people. The first home game of the Blaugrana club will be the weekend of September 13 and 14 against Valencia.

In the X social network account of the youtuber Ferran Barniol you can see how the playing field is, which in the surroundings will have artificial turf and whose natural turf is 100% installed.

In addition to the changing rooms, the tunnel that gives access to the rectangle of play and the stairs with their respective railings in one of its accesses from Travessera de Les Corts show significant progress.

Barça would use one of the visitors' changing rooms

However, in the images published by Barniol it can be seen that the local changing rooms of the Spotify Camp Nou are still under construction and would not be ready for September. In that sense, Barça would choose to use one of its visitors' changing rooms for the first league match against Valencia.

Although the local changing rooms are pending, the main structure would be ready for matchday 4 of LaLiga EA Sports 25/26. For the Champions League, everything will depend on the league phase calendar determined by UEFA. Barça could debut at home in mid or late September, according to the draw to be held on August 29.

The obstacles that the Spotify Camp Nou still has to overcome

On the other hand, 'RAC 1' reported that the European Club Association (ECA) found more than 200 deficiencies in the first phase of the Spotify Camp Nou works and Barça has little room for maneuver to resolve them and request the licenses required to open in September.

It should be remembered that the Blaugrana club asked to play the first three matchdays of LaLiga away from home against Mallorca, Levante and Rayo Vallecano, a request that was approved. Already on matchday 4, Flick's team is at home and still doesn't really know if they will be able to do so at the Spotify Camp Nou.

In the Champions League, if UEFA does not approve the Estadi, a new return to Montjuïc would have to be considered. The European body does not allow changing venues during the same phase of the tournament, so the club must play its four league phase matches in the same stadium.

The board does not plan to have two venues open and, if the Camp Nou is not ready for Europe, there will be no other option than to return to Lluís Companys for the first half of 25/26. Montjuïc already hosted Barça throughout 23/24 and 24/25.
