Will FC Barcelona be the 2024/25 LaLiga champion? At first glance, it may seem a little premature to make such a claim. However, there is an encouraging statistical data that suggests the possibility of a victory in this tournament based on the start of the culé team's season

Calendar of FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona started the 2024/25 season in LaLiga EA Sports in the best possible way by securing an important victory against Valencia CF (1-2) at Mestalla. Despite falling behind initially, they managed to turn the game around with a stellar performance by Robert Lewandowski, scoring a couple of goals, marking a promising start in the era of Hansi Flick as the coach of the Blaugrana.

This triumph gives the Catalan side a positive outlook for the future. Looking back, there is a highly encouraging statistic for Barcelona: when they start a season by earning three points as visitors in LaLiga, the last two times this has happened, the team from the City of Barcelona has ended the season as champions of the league.

The two recent precedents that FC Barcelona can consider

The most recent example of this dates back to the 2015/16 season when Barcelona, with a goal from Luis 'the Gunman' Suárez in the 54th minute, defeated Athletic Club at San Mamés. At the end of that campaign, the team was crowned champion with an impressive record of 91 points (29 wins, four draws, and 5 losses), surpassing Real Madrid by just one point. They scored 112 goals and conceded only 29, with 'Lucho' as the 'Pichichi' (top scorer with 40 goals) and Lionel Messi as the assist leader (16 assists).

Prior to this, in the 2010/11 season, Barcelona started their LaLiga campaign with a resounding 0-3 victory over Racing Santander at El Sardinero, with goals from Messi, Iniesta, and Villa. Similar to the previously mentioned example, the Catalan side ended up as champions of LaLiga, accumulating 96 points (30 wins, six draws, and two losses), surpassing Real Madrid by four points.

However, this postulate is not always fulfilled...

Nevertheless, this trend does not always hold true. In the 2006/07 season, Barcelona once again started with an away victory, this time against a resilient Celta Vigo in a match that ended 2-3, with goals from Eto'o, Messi, and Gudjohnsen. Despite this promising start, the Blaugrana did not manage to clinch the title at the end of the season, tying with Real Madrid on points after amassing 76 points (23 wins, seven draws, and eight losses), but losing on tiebreakers due to the results in the Clásicos (Real Madrid won 2-0 at the Bernabéu and there was a 3-3 draw at the Camp Nou).
