Calendar of FC Barcelona

The penultimate week of January has started off with a bang for FC Barcelona. After achieving an epic victory against Benfica in the Champions League, the blue and claret entity has closed two of its most important folders that have occupied it the most in recent months.

According to 'Marca', the blue and claret sports management has reached an agreement with Ronald Araujo and Pedri to renew their contracts until 2030. Deco has already shaken hands with the players' representatives, and only the signing and official announcement remain, which will take place in the coming days before the winter window closes on February 3.

The most complex case was that of the Uruguayan, as an offer from Juventus seriously jeopardized his continuity in the Catalan capital. In order not to lose one of the pillars of the club's future, the Portuguese executive accelerated negotiations with his agents and the player himself, and after convincing him to continue wearing the blue and claret jersey, reached a definitive agreement to secure his stay at the club.

However, his new release clause generates expectations, as both the defender and his environment aimed to include a 'way out' with a high figure but within the market in case they decided to part ways in the future. The Uruguayan's idea is to build his career in Catalonia, where he is one of the team captains, but he wants to have the upper hand.

Pedri, a secured signing

The situation was different with Pedri, whose renewal was practically a given. The conversations between both parties always flowed since the idea of both was to stay together for as long as possible. The only aspect left to resolve was the financial one, and after due time, the operation has reached a successful conclusion without any hiccups.

This will be the second renewal for the Tenerife native since his arrival at Spotify Camp Nou. The first, in 2021, he signed as one of the key pieces of Joan Laporta's new project, and this will confirm him as one of the leaders of the team and one of the best midfielders, if not the best, in the world.

Now, the blaugranas will focus on the folders of Gavi and Gerard Martín, whose renewals are practically closed and it is also not ruled out that they will be announced before the end of the January market. Once finalized, it will remain to be seen if they generate enough 'fair play' to face new signings, with Marcus Rashford waiting in the wings.
