Tebas doubts that Barça can register Joan García and Nico Williams due to the limits imposed by LaLiga

Javier Tebas once again referred to FC Barcelona. This time, the 62-year-old leader took advantage of his most recent public appearance —within the framework of a visit to the new Esade campus in Madrid— to talk about the current situation of the possible incorporations of the culé team and the prospects for their possible registration in LaLiga.

The signing of Joan García: between officialization and registration

In this context, Tebas specifically referred to the signing of the 24-year-old goalkeeper Joan García by the Blaugrana team. After the disbursement of the termination clause and the corresponding notification to Espanyol, the transfer is close to becoming official. However, the president of LaLiga clarified:

"One thing is to make the signing of Joan Garcia official and another is to register him. They have to make movements and see which players are going to decide... I hear so much... I no longer know what is true of what is written."

In turn, Tebas warned about the complexities that the Catalan club could face to register Joan García in this summer market:

"Barcelona is not in rule 1:1. I think the other day they announced the payment of Joan García's clause, but I don't know if they have already done it, I don't understand much... Barça has to do things to be able to register him. Not many, but they have to do things, and they already know what they are. I'm not going to say them, but we're not even on the dates... we'll see," he emphasized.

Does Barcelona have money to sign Nico Williams?

In the same vein, Tebas was also asked about the option of the Barcelona team paying the termination clause of Nico Williams. Although the signing of the Pamplona winger seems increasingly close, the president of LaLiga warned that it will not be easy to finalize it:

"Does Barça have money to sign Nico and register him? I don't know. But in the end so many are heard: Williams, the other one, the one on the motorcycle... first that what has to be registered is true, which I don't know."

And he added about the Navarre striker: "Right now they still do not meet the requirements to sign freely. If they want Nico, they will have to sell and adjust their accounts a lot."

Barça and the challenge of registering signings in the 2025/26 summer market

With this panorama, it is clear that, in terms of registrations, LaLiga does not offer FC Barcelona the most favorable conditions for this summer. Will the Blaugrana team manage to resolve this situation in time?

It will be one of the big issues to follow from July 1, when the 2025/26 summer market officially opens and Barça must make the necessary movements —both in departures and in economic adjustments— to register its new incorporations.
