Marc-André ter Stegen broke the silence for the first time after the recent controversy surrounding his name. It should not be forgotten that the Blaugrana entity decided to remove the captaincy and the number from the German goalkeeper, after it transpired that he was not willing to sign a report to send it to the Medical Commission of LaLiga.
This step was key for FC Barcelona to be able to take advantage of article 77 of the Regulation for the Preparation of Budgets of Clubs/SADs, and thus use 80% of his salary to make registrations.
The goalkeeper began his statement describing the delicate moment he is going through due to the controversy: "These last months have been especially difficult for me, both physically and personally. Like any player, after suffering an injury, my only priority has always been to return to the field as soon as possible, motivated solely by the desire to help the team and do what I love most: compete."
Ter Stegen explains his version of the events
The player from Mönchengladbach admitted that in recent weeks information has been spread that does not always reflect reality. Therefore, he wanted to clarify the reason why he was so explicit in reporting the downtime of his injury: "In recent weeks, many things have been said about me, some completely unfounded. Therefore, I feel it is necessary to express my version of the facts with respect, but with clarity.
The decision to undergo surgery was made after consulting with medical professionals and was fully approved by the club, always with the intention of prioritizing my health and my long-term sports career, objectives that are completely aligned with those of FC Barcelona, in order to be available as soon as possible to continue fighting for titles. In addition, I publicly announced the minimum recovery period that was communicated to me by the most reputable experts and always in coordination with the entity," he emphasized.

MATS denies hindering Barça's registrations
Ter Stegen ruled out any intervention to hinder the registration of his teammates: "I would also like to make it clear - as a result of certain speculations - that all the incorporations and contract renewals of the club were carried out before my surgery. Therefore, at no time did I consider that my unfortunate situation, with the new operation that I had to undergo, was an obstacle to the registration of other teammates, whom I deeply respect and with whom I want to share the dressing room for many seasons. Any other interpretation seems unfair and inaccurate to me," he argued.

In that same line, the '1' denied any friction with the culé team or with its fans: "Throughout my career I have always tried to behave with professionalism, respect and commitment towards the badges I have represented. I have a deep affection for FC Barcelona, this city and its people, who have supported me for so many years. My commitment to these colors remains total," he added.
The German is willing to resolve the conflict with the club
The statement closed with a conciliatory message, showing his willingness to resolve the issue of the pending medical report: "I understand that difficult moments can generate tension, but I trust that, through dialogue and responsibility, we can resolve this situation constructively. I am fully willing to collaborate with the management to facilitate the required authorization."
Finally, Ter Stegen wanted to highlight his bond with the fans: "Many things can change, but there is one thing that never will: I love you, culers."
