Deco will hold a 'summit' with Ter Stegen next week to define his future. Will the German accept Barça's proposal?

Calendar of FC Barcelona

The FC Barcelona board knows well that, after the Asian tour, it must resolve the pending issues related to the preparation of the squad for 2025/26. For now, the most complex is still the future of Marc-André ter Stegen. The goalkeeper has already returned to Catalonia after undergoing surgery in Bordeaux to treat his back injury.

The absence of the '1' closed any possibility of loan or transfer in the summer market, but also complicates the Blaugrana sports planning because the goalkeeper assures he is ready to return in just three months.

In that sense, according to 'SPORT', the club hopes that the culé sporting director, Deco, will hold a 'summit' with 'Matts' next week to smooth things over and define his future at Can Barça. The 33-year-old goalkeeper is a fixed discard for Hansi Flick, but still has three more years of contract and the bulk of his emoluments to collect.

Deco's plan to direct Ter Stegen's departure in January

In principle, Deco's intention is to convince Ter Stegen to accept the time off estimated by the Blaugrana team, which points to four or more months. Although the '1' recovered in less than 90 days after undergoing the same surgery in 23/24, Barça needs to establish the captain's injury as long-term due to the 'Fair Play' issue.

If Marc-André enters the list of seriously injured players, the club will save 80% of his salary, a key move to resolve the registrations of the three reinforcements signed in the summer market, along with Wojciech Szczesny.

The Pole renewed his contract in July for two more years and, like Joan García, Roony Bardghji and Marcus Rashford, still do not have federal licenses because the Blaugrana team is still exceeded in its salary margin.

However, both the former Espanyol goalkeeper (first signing of the summer, in exchange for 25 million) as 'Tek' (starter in the second half of 24/25) have already been confirmed by the coaching staff as the first and second option for the Blaugrana goal.

Thus, after his return, Ter Stegen would be relegated to the bench, even as a third alternative. Diego Kochen, for the moment, is the one pointed out to occupy that role, since Iñaki Peña also has his days numbered with the team.

Therefore, Deco's idea is to convince him to stay out of the squad, train at the Ciutat Esportiva to complete his rehabilitation and look for a team in the winter market. The way out, for now, is still unclear.

Ter Stegen and Barça, forced to agree on a friendly departure

In Germany, they still consider Marc-André as a starter for the next World Cup, as long as the '1' has enough playing time in the season that is about to begin.

Julian Nagelsmann himself advises him to find a way to be important with his club, either in Barcelona or elsewhere, as otherwise it will be very difficult to guarantee his place in what would be his first World Cup as owner of the 'Mannschaft' goal.

Ter Stegen, for the moment, has a contract until 2028 and invoices around 14 million net per season. If Barça decided to give him a letter of freedom, they would have to agree on a high economic compensation, something that for now is unfeasible for the culé finances.

A loan, on the other hand, would only be acceptable if his new club assumed a majority percentage of the salary. And, in the case of a transfer, the club would expect to receive about 10 'kilos' for the operation.

Before the absence of the Mönchengladbach native was confirmed, Galatasaray was very interested in his signing. Will Marc-André agree to negotiate a friendly departure from the Blaugrana team? The '1' is still the first culé captain, after adding 422 official matches in 11 seasons and 19 titles, including six Leagues and one Champions League.
