Marc-André ter Stegen sent a message of encouragement to his teammates on social media prior to the league debut against Mallorca

Calendar of FC Barcelona

The first captain of FC Barcelona, Marc-André ter Stegen, encouraged his teammates before the match against RCD Mallorca, for matchday 1 of LaLiga EA Sports 25/26. The German goalkeeper published a message on Instagram to the Azulgrana squad that says "Lets go, team", which in Spanish means "Vamos, equipo".

It should be noted that the Teutonic goalkeeper will be out for the next four months due to an injury in the lumbar area. For this reason, he was not registered for this season. Ter Stegen's non-registration opened the possibility for Joan García to be registered as the goalkeeper for the match against Mallorca.

Ter Stegen follows Barça while preparing his return

The message that ter Stegen sent to his teammates says a lot, because that is a sign of the commitment he has to the Culé institution. The Blaugrana goalkeeper expressed at the Gamper that he had reconciled with the club and that now we must look forward.

Apart from his reassuring words for the fans, 'Matts' has received the support of his teammates, especially from García, who took on being the '1' while the German is injured. After the captain's return, however, it is unlikely that the Catalan will give up the starting position.

Barça is willing to loan out ter Stegen so he can get minutes

Ter Stegen has already started doing gym sessions at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, after the postoperative process following the surgery in the lumbar area. His return is still uncertain, but it is most likely that he will be out until January.

In that sense, Barça is betting on Joan García to be the '1' in the 25/26 season and as an alternative to the Polish Wojciech Szczęsny, so they would propose to the German goalkeeper a loan or transfer in the winter market.

A loan would allow the native of Monchengladbach to have the necessary minutes to be taken into account by Julian Nagelsmann and compete with Alexander Nubel for the starting position in the German national team in the 2026 World Cup. Although ter Stegen has stated that he wants to fulfill his contract until June 2028, FC Barcelona has offered him a solution that could benefit him in sports.
