FC Barcelona faces a new challenge after the FIFA national team break: will they be able to be as reliable defensively without the presence of Ronald Araújo and Jules Koundé?
The FC Barcelona came in very good dynamics in the start of the season 2022-2023. Except the defeat in front of the Bayern of Munich (2-0) the team trained by Xavi Hernández has showed a version very convincente in the parties that has contested. In LaLiga, for example, have given loose rein to the most offensive version that has allowed them add 18 goals in favour and one only against. The culés have suffered much less backwards and 'back' with the gunpowder of the footballers from above.
The Barça is in full construction, but for the moment all the pieces of the puzzle have fit. Only it remains the 'detail' of how will return the team after the stop of selections (this Saturday 1 October, against the Mallorca) and if the drops by injury will have a lot of effect in the exert of the team. To defensive level, it will be necessary to see how Xavi confronts the next month in which it will not have to Jules Koundé surely. The absence of Ronald Araújo, on the other hand, seems that it will be until the next year if it decides to operate.
It will be a true proof for the culés, that up to now grieve have suffered in the retaguardia. Marc-André ter Stegen has kept his goal in zero in five of the six parties of LaLiga (only has fit once, against the Real Sociedad) and, largely, is responsibility of the defensive work of the team. Up to now, Koundé, Araújo, Eric and Balde came being the most used by the trainer egarense. It foresees that Héctor Bellerín add more leadership by the right band, that Andreas Christensen turn into indisputable headline and that Gerard Hammered will go in in rotation.
It goes to be a defence 'new' regarding what came seeing of the Barça in the last weeks and will be key how work against the Mallorca, thinking in the decisive duel against the Inter of Milan by the Champions League in little less than two weeks. Afterwards, the big challenge will be to confront to a Real Madrid that until before the stop of selections had won the nine parties that had contested.
The team less goleado
It is worth it to remember, in any case, that the Barça had turned into the team that less goals had received in Europe to level of Leagues, with an alone target fit. In LaLiga Santander followed him Villarreal (2), Betis (4), Athletic (4), Osasuna (5), Valencia (5), Real Madrid (6) and Athletic (6), whereas in the rest of Europe are the Atalanta (3), Union Berlin (4) and Paris Saint-Germain (4).
