Pedri has had to live a summer without holidays. After his injury in the quarter-finals of the European Championship against Germany, the player put in place a curious plan to return to the pitch as soon as possible
Pedri González is not having his best moment. The Spanish national team player suffered a very hard tackle from Toni Kroos in the quarter-finals of Euro 2024, which meant the end of the tournament for him. Later, he was diagnosed with an internal lateral sprain of the knee, with an estimated recovery time of between six and eight weeks.
Although the German midfielder's action was not on purpose, the world was left wanting to continue enjoying his great performance in the competition, where he was aiming to be one of Luis de la Fuente's great figures. His end of the 2023-2024 season with FC Barcelona was quite positive, so one could think that he was returning to his top level.
However, every player is susceptible to injuries, so the Tegueste native did not let himself be defeated by what happened. On the contrary, he has shown great resilience and, of course, Barça has thrown itself into his service to achieve a successful recovery in the shortest possible time.
Pedri recovers at home
After passing through the Ciutat Esportiva and meeting his new coach, Hansi Flick, the player trained at UD Las Palmas traveled to his homeland to begin his recovery. Being close to his family has helped him disconnect a little from the world in view of the next season and, at the same time, work day by day to burn off deadlines.
Pedri is working at the 'Tenerife Top Training' facilities with equipment and personnel provided by the culé team. At the beginning of next week he will end his stay at home and say goodbye to his family to travel to Barcelona, where he will continue his rehabilitation at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.
The recovery is going as planned and the Tegueste native would be facing the final part of his recovery. Although neither he nor the club want to take any risks, the forecast is that he will be ready to play in the final stretch of August. Although the deadlines are quite tight to play at Mestalla, he is not yet 100% ruled out for the first match of the 2024/25 LaLiga season, because the sensations are good.
