Raphinha, Lamine Yamal, and other members of the FC Barcelona first team celebrated their victory in the Supercopa de España with sunglasses
The FC Barcelona made a statement last Sunday by becoming the champion of the Supercopa de España 2025 after 'overwhelming' Real Madrid in the tournament final (2-5). The azulgrana team celebrated its fifteenth title in this competition (the most successful team in it) and the players celebrated it fittingly.
The first team's celebrations left several striking images, such as Dani Olmo kissing the badge in front of the fans or Robert Lewandowski dancing with the youngest ones. However, the 'look' with which some players received the trophy has been the most curious of all.
The Players Bring the NBA to Spain
Indeed, 'stars' like Raphinha and Lamine Yamal, among others, celebrated the title with sunglasses. A celebration previously used by the players of the Spanish women's national football team, it has its origins in the United States, where NBA players tend to celebrate their championship rings in the same way.
This use of sunglasses, besides having an aesthetic sense, also has a practical reason, as they serve as protection when uncorking champagne bottles, a drink always present in title celebrations.
However, beyond their practical use, they demonstrate the influence of American sports on football and, specifically, in the Barça locker room, where Olmo, for example, celebrates his goals like the guard of the Milwaukee Bucks, and one of basketball's stars, Damian Lillard.
