Ferran Torres scored again with Barça, this time sealing the victory in Las Palmas (0-2). The '7' has 11 goals this season, 6 of them coming off the bench
The FC Barcelona secured three points against Las Palmas from the bench. After a sluggish first half, Hansi Flick brought on Dani Olmo to 'unlock' the match and later, Ferran Torres to seal it. The 'Shark' has established himself as the 'super substitute' for the culés, being the ideal partner for the 'LRL' and showcasing the firepower he has in his boots despite not having many minutes in the first team.
The German coach brought him on in the 85th minute, giving him just 13 minutes to make his mark... and he certainly did. In the only chance he had inside the box, the Valencian received a pass from Raphinha, and after adjusting his shot with his right foot, he sent a powerful left-footed strike into the back of the net past Jasper Cillessen, who could do nothing to prevent another goal from the '7' in blue and garnet.
Ferran, the ideal impact player for Barça
With this goal, Ferran now has 11 in the 960 minutes he has played this season, which are spread over 27 matches. The forward finds the net every 87 minutes and is the player with the highest scoring efficiency for Barça in LaLiga 24/25, as 54.2% of his shots are on target (13 out of 24). With this figure, Torres surpasses his percentages from the 22/23 (29.7%) and 23/24 (39.5%) seasons, demonstrating his significant improvement in front of goal.
Additionally, since his return from a thigh injury in November, he has scored in all three matches he has started (Valencia and Mallorca in La Liga and Valencia in the Cup) and has netted six goals coming off the bench, three of these in La Liga (Valladolid, Betis, and Las Palmas), two in the Champions League (Borussia Dortmund), and one against Betis in the Copa del Rey.
The 'Shark' has already matched Lamine Yamal as the third top scorer for the team this season and continues to earn merits for an important role in Hansi Flick's squad. On the horizon, clubs like Chelsea and Aston Villa have shown interest in his situation, but if he maintains his current performance, it seems unlikely that in the Catalan capital they would want to part with their 'super substitute'.
