FC Barcelona learned this Friday of Dani Olmo's injury. The player from Terrassa suffered an injury to his left calf during a training session with the Spanish National Team and will return to Catalunya on Saturday to undergo medical tests to confirm the extent of the muscular problem and his consequent time off.

With Olmo's injury, Barça now has seven players in the infirmary out of the 23 that make up the first team squad (30.4%). In total, the Azulgrana team has suffered 11 muscular injuries so far this season (2 months), an alarming number that highlights the physical strain resulting from the schedule.

The team led by Hansi Flick has played 10 official matches so far (8 in the League, 2 in the Champions League), in addition to facing two international breaks to which a total of 24 players have traveled (14 in September, 10 in October). In the previous FIFA date, Lamine Yamal and Frenkie de Jong returned with physical problems. This month, Dani has been the first.

Barça Could Recover Three Injured Players Against Girona

However, the situation is not dramatic for Barça regarding the injured players, for the time being. Lamine, Raphinha, and Fermín López could reappear next Saturday against Girona, at least being available on the bench.

The player from Huelva trained again on the pitch at the Ciutat Esportiva before the Sevilla-Barça match, and everything indicates that he will receive medical clearance next week. Fermín suffered an injury to the left iliopsoas in the last minute of the league match against Getafe, on September 21.

His time off was estimated at 3 weeks, a period that has been fully met. Rafa, meanwhile, was injured after the visit to Oviedo, also in the League, on September 26 due to an injury to his right femoral biceps. Like '16', the Brazilian would also be out for about 3 weeks, so he should return to training with the group next week.

Barça's plan with Lamine Yamal's recovery: how much will he play again?

The outlook is more uncertain with Lamine Yamal. The '10' relapsed from his discomfort in the pubis a couple of days after the Champions League match against PSG and his evolution will determine his availability. The player from Mataró has been working in the gym in recent days and could return to the pitch this week, as long as the pain in the affected area disappears.

The 18-year-old winger's priority is to be fit in time for the Clásico against Real Madrid on October 26, but the club will not rush his return to avoid a relapse of the pubalgia that has prevented him from playing in 5 of Flick's last 7 games.

Gavi and Ter Stegen, the Only Long-Term Absences in Barcelona

For his part, Joan García must still wait at least 10-15 more days to define his tentative return date. The goalkeeper underwent surgery for a ruptured medial meniscus in his left knee on September 28, and his recovery time was estimated at 4 to 6 weeks.

Although the player from Sallent is not ruled out for the Clásico, it is very likely that his return will be postponed, even until after the November international break, to give the meniscus enough recovery time.

Pablo Gavi, on the other hand, will be out until February-March 2026, as his surgery on the right meniscus required a suture that may take 4 to 5 months to heal. Marc-André ter Stegen, in turn, could also reappear only in January, once he completes the recovery time from his back surgery.
