This is the LaLiga standings after Barça's thrashing of Valencia

The FC Barcelona put on a true spectacle in the 21st matchday of LaLiga EA Sports 2024/25. The Blaugrana hosted Valencia and handed them a historic thrashing at Montjuïc (7-1). The Catalans (42) closed the gap in the standings after the 'slip-up' of Atlético de Madrid (45) against Villarreal (1-1) and maintain their 7-point difference with Real Madrid (49) following the whites' victory in Valladolid (0-3).

The goals from Frenkie de Jong, Ferran Torres, Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski, César Tárrega (own goal), and Fermín López (x2) allowed the Catalans to get back into the title race. Meanwhile, the rojiblancos suffered their second consecutive setback in the league in a match equalized by the goals of Samu Lino and Gerard Moreno, while Real Madrid remains firm at the top of the LaLiga standings thanks to a 'hat-trick' from Kylian Mbappé.

The Athletic Club is fourth after drawing with Leganés and they are pulling away from Barça in the table. Meanwhile, Villarreal (5th) and Mallorca (6th) complete the European competition qualification spots. Below the Bermellones is Rayo Vallecano (7th), who achieved a crucial victory against Girona (8th).

Barça gets back into LaLiga

The Real Sociedad is in ninth place after a heavy defeat against Getafe. On the other hand, Betis is tenth after their victory against Mallorca, while Osasuna is eleventh despite slipping against Las Palmas. Meanwhile, Sevilla is twelfth after drawing with Espanyol.

The Celta is 13th and Getafe climbed to fourteenth place thanks to their great victory at Anoeta, while Las Palmas is in fifteenth place, surpassing Leganés which is in sixteenth place due to their draw with Athletic Club.

At the edge of the last positions is Alavés (17th), with Espanyol, Valladolid, and Valencia occupying the relegation spots. This next Monday, the match between babazorros and Celta de Vigo in Mendizorroza will continue the matchday.
