Hansi Flick's FC Barcelona has regained its offensive power this January. In four matches, the team has scored 16 goals, bringing their total to 88 goals in 29 matches, their best figures since 1959.

Calendar of FC Barcelona

The 2024-25 season of FC Barcelona could surpass all historical offensive records of the club. In 29 matches, the team led by Hansi Flick has scored a staggering 88 goals, averaging 3.03 goals per match. Since 1959, with Helenio Herrera on the bench, nothing like this has been seen, not even during the great cycles of Johan Cruyff, Pep Guardiola, or Luis Enrique.

After a collective dip in the last month of 2024, Barça has regained the unstoppable rhythm of the first two months of competition following the Christmas break. In January, Barça has played four matches (Barbastro, Athletic, Real Madrid, and Real Betis) in which they scored 16 goals, meaning each opponent has averaged 4 goals against them when facing the Catalans.

Only Athletic (0-2) has escaped a thrashing. Ahead in the remaining month are Getafe (away), Benfica (away), Valencia (home), and Atalanta (home), four more matches to close a very demanding month that, for now, has returned the best version of the blaugrana machinery. The 88 goals are distributed as follows: 51 in LaLiga (19 matches), 21 in Champions (6 matches), 9 in Copa del Rey (2 matches), and 7 in the Supercopa de España (2 matches).

Barça Distances Itself with the Best Offense in Europe

In the five major European leagues, no team surpasses the offensive production of Flick's Barça. Only Chelsea, with 80 goals in 32 matches (across Premier League, Conference League, FA Cup, and League Cup) comes close to the Catalan offensive average. Behind them are Bayern Munich (78 goals in 26 matches) and Liverpool, which under Arne Slot has also established itself as a lethal machine (75 goals in 31 matches).

In Europe, there are only two teams with better offensive records in their league. The statistic is led by PSV Eindhoven under Peter Bosz, which has scored 61 goals in 18 rounds of the Eredivisie, clearly a league of lower category compared to LaLiga. Similarly, Bayern Munich (53 goals in 17 rounds of the Bundesliga) surpasses Barça domestically, although not in the overall competitions. Regarding the 2023-24 season, the Catalans have scored 31 more goals (the team scored 57 with Xavi Hernández at this point in the season).
