FC Barcelona is the third Spanish club most affected by injuries during 2024-25. A study conducted by HONOR revealed that the Catalans have suffered 14 injuries between August 2024 and January 2025, coinciding with the forecasts expected by experts before the start of the season. Meanwhile, Real Madrid and Athletic Club (16 injuries) also appear among the 25 teams most affected by physical problems in the first half of 2024-25.

In this regard, HONOR's research warns that, despite the injuries, the three Spanish clubs have managed to maintain their performance in LaLiga compared to the previous season. Madrid has maintained the lead, while Barcelona, which was third at the end of the first half in 2023-24, also remains in the same position at this point in the calendar. The same goes for the Basque team, fourth in contention at the end of January in both campaigns.

Barcelona is the 25th team with the most injuries in 2024-25

According to the authors of the study, conducted with the support of the University of Oxford, clubs lose, on average, 1 point in their respective leagues for every 177 days of injury, while every 542 days of absence translates into the loss of a position in the standings. Among the 14 injuries suffered by the Blaugrana squad, the most serious have been those of Marc Bernal and Marc-André ter Stegen, both ruled out until next summer. Next is Andreas Christensen, whose physical problems have barely allowed him to play one league match.

So far, the Catalans are the twenty-fifth European club that has suffered the most in 2024-25 due to injuries. Athletic and Madrid follow in the rankings at positions 15 and 16, respectively. RB Salzburg leads the ranking of clubs affected by physical problems, with 22 injuries, two more than the Italian Genoa (20) and ahead of the English Brighton and Arsenal (both with 18).
