Jules Koundé responds forcefully to accusations about Hansi Flick and Lewandowski after Inter-Barça

Calendar of FC Barcelona

If there is a FC Barcelona player who doesn't stay silent in the face of criticism, that is Jules Koundé. The French right-back has once again demonstrated that he not only responds with security on the field, but also off it, by defending himself from recent accusations that circulated in Catalan media.

The controversy: alleged criticism of Flick

The controversy arose after an assertion made on the podcast 'Barça Reservat' of Catalunya Ràdio, where it was claimed that Koundé had questioned a decision by coach Hansi Flick during the second leg of the UEFA Champions League against Inter Milan (4-3).

In that match, held at the Giuseppe Meazza, the French defender could not participate due to a distal injury to the biceps femoris of his left thigh suffered on April 30th, during the first leg against the 'nerazzurri' at Montjuïc (3-3). Even so, the '23' traveled to Italy and watched Barcelona's defeat from the stands.

According to the aforementioned source, Koundé was surprised by the entry of Robert Lewandowski in the 91st minute of the match against the Lombards, when the score favored the culé team by 2-3. The argument was that, in the opinion of the Frenchman, the Polish '9' was not yet in optimal physical condition after an injury to the semitendinosus of his left thigh.

"I don't know why he's playing, he shouldn't be playing as he is"

Koundé flatly denies: "It's not journalism"

Far from staying silent, Jules Koundé himself came forward through his official X (formerly Twitter) account @jkeey, to flatly deny the information released: "Inventing comments and telling tall tales is all well and good, but it's not journalism. What is also not journalism is transmitting information without ensuring it is true. Now yes, you can transmit the tweet if you feel like it," he commented.

With this message, the international of 'Les Bleus' made his position clear and denounced the lack of rigor in the published information. In turn, he defended both his teammate Lewandowski and the decision of Hansi Flick in the final stretch of the match against Inter, making it clear that he did not criticize 'Lewy' nor did he question the decisions of the Barcelona coach.
