Pep Guardiola made history on Sunday in the Premier League. The Santpedor native managed his 1,000th match in Manchester City's 3-0 thrashing of Liverpool, his 716th victory as a coach
Manchester City thrashed Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium (3-0) in a perfect day for Pep Guardiola. The Catalan coach managed his 1,000th official match since his debut on the benches with FC Barcelona's reserve team in the 2007/08 season. Since then, the Santpedor native has completed a legendary career, with 716 wins, 39 titles, and an effectiveness of 71.6%.
Guardiola, in his 10th season with City, has managed 550 matches with the 'sky blue' outfit, with whom he has already won the Premier League on 6 occasions (4 consecutively) and the UEFA Champions League in 2023. On Sunday, the 'cityzens' made a statement of authority by thrashing the reigning champions at home.
City sends Liverpool back into crisis

In the 11th round of the Premier League, the Manchester team won with relative ease against a 'Reds' side lacking punch and defensive solidity. **Erling Haaland**, who had missed a penalty in the opening minutes, opened the scoring in the 29th minute. Arne Slot's team reacted with a headed goal from **Van Dijk**, which was disallowed for offside by **Robertson**.
Just before the break, former Culer Nico González extended the lead for the home team with a beautiful goal. Jérémy Doku, the best of the 'sky blue' attack, sealed the score in the 63rd minute. With the victory, City moves up to second place in the standings with 22 points, 4 behind leaders Arsenal.
Liverpool, for their part, drops to 8th place after losing 5 of their last 6 matches in the tournament. The 'Reds' have barely accumulated 18 points after spending almost 550 million euros in the last transfer window, and Arne Slot's continuity is increasingly being questioned.
