Flick-Zahavi meeting in Barcelona: signings in sight? We tell you what is known
Intense day for the FC Barcelona coach, Hansi Flick. After concluding Thursday's work session at the Ciudad Deportiva Joan Gamper, the German coach held a key meeting with his agent, Pini Zahavi.
The meeting took place at the Majestic Hotel in Barcelona and lasted approximately an hour and a half. According to various sources, the meeting was aimed at discussing current affairs between two names that have maintained a very fluid professional relationship for years.
Pini Zahavi, very active on the Barça agenda
The Israeli agent gives the impression of being on a tour of contacts with members of the Barça sports management. Beyond this conversation with Hansi Flick, Zahavi had already met the night before with president Joan Laporta, in a meeting that was held at the Botafumeiro restaurant and lasted about two hours.
For now, the content of both meetings has not been revealed. However, given the existing harmony between the parties, it is not ruled out that they were simple conversations to catch up.
The shadow of Lewandowski and Saudi Arabia
Despite this, speculation is inevitable. One of the topics that could have been on the table is the situation of Robert Lewandowski, also represented by Zahavi. In recent days, the Polish striker has been linked again with Saudi Arabian football, which continues to tempt with stratospheric offers even though the player has already rejected several.
Although Barcelona is not seriously considering his departure, there is still interest in the Saudi market in taking one of the world's great goalscorers. An operation that, for the moment, seems distant, due to the player's and the club's position, but not impossible.
What if the Flick-Zahavi contact was in terms of signings for Barça?
Although the Barcelona team seems to have the agenda closed with regard to incorporations - after having reinforced the priority areas in this summer market: goal and attack - it is not ruled out that there may still be one last arrival to close the squad. The group was left with a gap in the left-back position after the departure of Iñigo Martínez.
However, any signing will be conditional on Barcelona managing to resolve the issues of financial fair play and their entry into the 1:1 rule. A matter that is already well underway, although without that desired officialization. Once the green light is given, the Catalans could think about new movements.
Will they bet on any of the players represented by Pini Zahavi? Only time will tell.
