Leo Messi goes for his second Leagues Cup with Inter Miami

Leo Messi and Inter Miami are going this Sunday for their second CONCACAF Leagues Cup, when the team led by Javier Mascherano faces the Seattle Sounders in the final of the tournament. The 'herons' already lifted this trophy in 2023, just after the arrival of 'La Pulga' to American soccer.

In the semifinal played on Wednesday, Messi scored a double that served for Inter's comeback against Orlando City. Leo, who arrived at the match with muscular discomfort, scored from a penalty in the 77th minute and scored another goal in the 88th minute.

This last one, after a collective play inside the area with Jordi Alba, finishing crosswise for the comeback of the Miami team. The score closed with a goal from the Venezuelan Telasco Segovia in the 90+1'.

Now Inter will have to play the Leagues Cup final against the Seattle Sounders at the Lumen Field in Seattle, the home of their rival. The team led by Brian Schmetzer played in the Club World Cup (losing all three matches against Botafogo, Atlético and PSG) and, in 'semis', defeated LA Galaxy (0-2).

In that sense, Leo Messi and his team seek to win this title for the second time, after having lifted it in the 2023 edition by penalties (10-9) against Nashville (1-1 in regular time).

In that final, 'La Pulga' scored the only goal for his team. This was the first trophy in the history of the club founded in 2018. In addition, the club obtained the MLS Supporter's Shield in 2024, after leading the regular season of the American league.
