Nations League, Qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup and U-21 European Championship: 12 Barcelona players are concentrating with their national teams in a very demanding calendar
An exciting FIFA date is coming up in June and FC Barcelona is once again setting the standard when it comes to lending its internationals to different national teams. And yes, the Azulgrana club can boast that 12 of its players will wear the jerseys of their respective national teams for the dispute of several competitions:
- UEFA Nations League
- Qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States
- U-21 European Championship
The internationals of Barça, protagonists in the Nations League and other key dates
In this sense, the national team that monopolizes the attention due to the number of culés in its squad is the Spanish team, which has a total of six players from Barça: Pau Cubarsí, Pedri González, Gavi, Fermín López, Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo. All of them were called up by Luis de la Fuente to play the semifinals of the UEFA Nations League against a France that, by the way, will not be able to count on one of the usual Azulgranas in their approach: Jules Koundé, absent due to injury.
Also, in this FIFA date in June, in Barcelona key, highlights the return of Ter Stegen to the German national team. The German team will also play the semifinals of the UEFA Nations League, in their case against the Portuguese national team. On the other hand, it is worth mentioning that Robert Lewandowski, with the aim of recovering strength, decided —by mutual agreement with the Polish national team— not to accept the call-up for this international window, in which the 'Eagles' will play a friendly match against Moldova.
In turn, and as a striking fact, two more culés, Pau Víctor and Eric García, were part of the call-up of the Catalonia national team and saw minutes in the friendly match played against Costa Rica on May 28. A duel, however, more symbolic than competitive, since the Catalan team is not a member of FIFA or the International Olympic Committee, so it can only hold friendly commitments.

The calendar could be extended for several Azulgranas
In turn, it is worth mentioning that the calendar could be extended for some of these internationals. For example, if Spain wins its respective match against France, it will advance to the final of the UEFA Nations League, which would involve playing an additional match next Sunday, June 8 at 21:00 h (CET) in Munich. The same applies to Ter Stegen with Germany, who, if they beat Portugal, would also have to participate in this defining match of the continental competition.
Finally, the U-21 national team led by Santi Denia, with Pablo Torre and Gerard Martín as references, could extend its participation if it surpasses the group stage of the U-21 European Championship. In that case, they would have to face the quarterfinals on June 21 or 22. If they pass that stage, they would play the semifinals on June 25 and, if they advance, they would reach the final scheduled for next June 28.
