Barcelona confirms its delegation to the 2025 Ballon d'Or gala

FC Barcelona will have a large delegation this Monday, September 22nd at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris for the 2025 gala of the Ballon d'Or. In total, four footballers from the first men's team and eight representatives from the women's reserve team will accompany Joan Laporta and four other club directors at the event organized by 'France Football' and UEFA.

For the first time since 2019, a Barça player arrives as a favorite for the men's Ballon d'Or. Lamine Yamal, who already became the youngest nominee in history in 2024, is, along with Ousmane Dembélé, the great candidate of the 2025 edition. 

The Paris Saint-Germain winger arrives with a certain favoritism after the treble obtained by Paris Saint-Germain in 24/25 and what it means to have a home player lifting the award, something that has not happened since 2023 (Karim Benzema).

The team led by Hansi Flick, brand new champion of LaLiga, Copa and Supercopa, will be represented by: 

1. Lamine Yamal
2. Raphinha
3. Pau Cubarsí

The absences of Pedri González and Robert Lewandowski stand out, both nominees for the highest award given by 'France Football'. In 2024, Dani Olmo accompanied Cubarsí and Lamine, who won the Kopa Trophy. Both are nominated again this year for the award for the best young footballer on the planet.

For its part, Barça Femení will have a much larger representation, made up of:

1. Aitana Bonmatí
2. Alexia Putellas
3. Caroline Graham Hansen
4. Patri Guijarro
5. Ewa Pajor
6. Claudia Pina
7. Vicky López
8. Cata Coll.

Aitana is looking for her third consecutive Ballon d'Or, after those obtained in 2023 and 2024. Barça, this time, does not arrive as a favorite for best club of the year, after falling in the final of the Women's Champions League against Arsenal (1-0).

For his part, president Joan Laporta will be accompanied by the sports vice president, Rafa Yuste; the institutional vice president, Elena Fort and the directors Joan Soler and Xavier Puig. The following will also accompany the board of directors:

2. Alejandro Echevarria, from the presidency cabinet
3. Gabriel Martínez, director of communication
4. Jordi Gómez, in charge of protocol

How does the 2025 Ballon d'Or voting work?

For the election of the winners, voters rely on three key criteria:

1. Individual performance and decisive impact
2. Collective titles and performance with the team
3. Fair play and class on and off the field

In the men's category, 180 sports journalists vote, who assign points to their candidates (6, 4, 3, 2 and 1 respectively). For the Women's Ballon d'Or, the format is similar, although with a jury composed of 50 journalists specialized in the women's category.
