The Brazilian from Barça analyzes his Ballon d'Or nomination: excitement, goals, and a desire to improve. Read his statements

Calendar of FC Barcelona

If there is a player who starts among the favorites to win the 2025 Ballon d'Or, that is Raphinha. The 28-year-old Brazilian winger had a memorable 2024/25 season, shining individually with his best season as a professional and, collectively, lifting three of the four titles he competed for with FC Barcelona.

  1. RAPHINHA'S NUMBERS IN THE 2024/25 SEASON WITH FC BARCELONA: 34 goals and 25 assists in 57 matches (4,661').
  2. TITLES (3): LaLiga 2024/25, Copa del Rey 2024/25 and Spanish Super Cup 2025.

Now, in the lead-up to the gala, which will be held on Monday, September 22 at the Théâtre du Châtelet (Paris, France), Rapha gave an interview to France Football, the magazine in charge of awarding the prize, where he shared his feelings. The French media shared on its X account part of the statements of the native of Porto Alegre about his nomination.

Raphinha and his joy for the Ballon d'Or nomination

The former Leeds United player began by assuring that for him "it is already a victory to be among the nominees for the award." It should be remembered that, in addition to him, the Blaugrana team managed to place among the 30 candidates another three references:

  1. Lamine Yamal
  2. Robert Lewandowski
  3. Pedri González

In that line, Raphinha stressed that being on the list of nominees already represents an honor, regardless of the final result:

"With everything I have experienced in my professional career, being at the gala is already a victory. It is one of the greatest triumphs of my career," stressed the winger.

Raphinha's ambition for the new season

The international with the Seleçao did not hide his hunger for glory and made it clear that his goals go beyond the nomination:

"My goal is to be better than yesterday, better than last season. I am going to give everything to improve myself."

The start of the 2025/26 campaign seems to prove him right. The '11' started at full speed, scoring a goal against RCD Mallorca on the first day of LaLiga EA Sports, confirming that what was shown the previous year was no coincidence. Will he be able to improve his records in this new season? We'll have to see.
