Barça closed its 2025 preseason with a brutal thrashing against Italian side Como in the Gamper (5-0). Lamine and Fermín led the Barça attack, both with braces.

Calendar of FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona were proclaimed champions of the Joan Gamper Trophy for the 47th time in the 60 editions of the traditional friendly that closes the club's preseason. The Blaugrana team crushed Italy's Como 1907 (5-0) in a new exhibition of Catalan attacking power.

The sensations heading into the start of 25/26 are unbeatable. The team is playing better and better and the three reinforcements incorporated in the summer market have fitted in very well with the team. In the preseason, Barça added a full set of victories in four presentations, with 20 goals in favor and only 4 against.

Hansi Flick opted for an XI with a majority of starters. Marcus Rashford, as center forward, was the main novelty, along with the return of Eric García and Fermín López. Both were starters against Vissel Kobe and, in the case of the Huelva native, he was again effective as an attacking midfielder. Raphinha and Lamine Yamal were the wingers, while the rest of the team were the usual 'untouchables'.

Joan García, still with the '1' on his back, started in goal, while Ronald Araujo and Pau Cubarsí accompanied Eric and Alejandro Balde in the backline. Pedri and Frenkie de Jong, in midfield, completed a lineup with the 4-2-3-1 scheme that gave such good results the previous year.

Fermín López led Barça's devastating attack in the first half

The match started with an intense rhythm and several clear chances in both areas, although with little clarity in the definition. Como warned with a shot from Azón that almost surprised Joan García, while Barça did damage on the flanks, with Lamine and Raphinha looking to enable Rashford.

The Englishman, however, was somewhat hesitant whether to shoot or pass in the first two chances he had. After a quarter of an hour of shared dominance, the Culés took the lead in the 21st minute thanks to Fermín's opportunism.

The man from El Campillo anticipated Vojvoda, stealing the ball from him with vivacity. Without wasting time, the '16' took a placed left-footed shot, unstoppable for goalkeeper Butez to make it 1-0.

After breaking the deadlock, the Blaugrana dominance was total at the Estadi Johan Gamper. Lamine was close to assisting Raphinha in the 23rd minute, but the rival goalkeeper came out quickly to cut off a low pass that left the Brazilian alone to define at will.

After the hydration break, the Como defense collapsed. In the 35th minute, after a definition by Yamal to Butez's body, Frenkie captured the rebound and gave it to Fermín on the edge of the area. With time and space, the '16' took a left-footed shot to the angle, without much power, but with the perfect placement to leave the Italians' goalkeeper static.

Raphinha and Lamine finished the match before halftime

Without giving the opponent a margin for reaction, Flick's men continued to do damage to an overwhelmed defense. In the 37th minute, Rashford easily beat Álex Valle, throwing a cross that Raphinha finished into an empty net to make it 3-0. In a flurry, Barça finished the match with the speed and punch that characterize it.

To add more 'INRI' for Cesc Fàbregas's men, Lamine made it four in the 42nd minute, pushing into the net a ball stolen by Raphinha. The Como defense claimed a foul by the '11' on Mërgim Vojvoda, but the main referee De Burgos Bengoetxea validated the goal.

In this way, Barça went into halftime with the match totally settled, thanks to a very high efficiency in attack. Flick's men took 13 shots, 5 of them on goal, of which 4 ended in a goal. A real steamroller. And that's despite Rashford sending a shot wide before halftime, into an empty net after dribbling past Butez.

Lamine Yamal's brace closed the scoring in the second half

After the break, Flick put Ferran Torres and Jules Koundé in place of Rashford and Eric García. The 'Shark' came on very active in attack, assisting Lamine Yamal.

In the 49th minute, the Mataró native received a pass from the '7' and, without hesitation, took a crossed left-footed shot, impossible for Butez, thus sealing the Blaugrana 'manita'. The winger returned the 'favor' to Ferran a minute later, but the Valencian finished wide despite having the entire goal at his disposal.

With the 5-0, the pace of the match logically slowed down as the minutes passed. Flick gave minutes to Gavi, Casadó, 'Dro' Fernández and Roony Bardghji in the final stretch, while Lamine indulged in missing a one-on-one before leaving in the 78th minute.

Toni Fernández, Gerard Martín and Andreas Christensen also came on. Only Joan García played the 90 minutes, with which Iñaki Peña closed the preseason without official minutes and is expected to leave soon.

Now, FC Barcelona will prepare the official debut in La Liga next Saturday, at Son Moix against Mallorca (19:30 CEST). Como, on the other hand, must turn the page to face their debut in the Coppa Italia against Südtirol, also on Saturday.
