Barça announces rivals and changes in the Joan Gamper Trophy

FC Barcelona has been forced to make changes in the dispute over the Joan Gamper Trophy 2022. The club has confirmed a new date and has defined its rivals for the men's and women's teams
After several days of wait, andl FC Barcelona has defined his plans for the dispute of the Trophy Joan Gamper, after the ACE Rome cancelled his participation of unilateral way. The club has informed that the clashes of the masculine and feminine team will play in different dates. Cougars and the French Montpellier will be the rivals in the party with which the blaugrana will give start to the season 2022-2023.
The team trained by Xavi Hernández will confront to the the Club National University of Mexico (Cougars) the Sunday 7 August in the Spotify Camp Nou, whereas the Barça feminine trained by Jonatan Giráldez will confront to the Montpellier in the Stadium Johan Cruyff of the Sportive City next Tuesday 23 August. Both parties will contest to the 20:00 hours (in Spain).
Like this it has confirmed it the Barça through a communiqué: "The Trophy Joan Gamper, that for the second time in the history will contest the teams of masculine and feminine football, already has dates and rival. The Barça of Xavi Hernández will play the Sunday 7 August to the 20 hours in the Spotify Camp Nou against the Club National University of Mexico, known like the Cougars, whereas the team of Jonatan Giráldez will do it some days afterwards, on 23 August, to the 20 hours against the Montpellier Hérault Sport Club, in the Stadium Johan Cruyff of the Sportive City".
The Barcelona entity has informed, besides, that after the renunciation of the ACE Rome, was impossible for the club achieve that the Gamper contest the same day, against the same rival, as it already happened in the past edition (against the Juventus): "The impossibility to find a same rival Club with masculine and feminine team available in these dates of the calendar has not allowed that the two teams of football of the Barça can go back to share the same day to contest the Gamper".
Final decision of the Barça
It has been a process complicated for the entity culé: "The renunciation of the Rome to contest the parties with the two masculine teams and feminine forced to the Barça to look for rival with a timeframe that limited the options to find clubs that allowed to celebrate the Festa of the Gamper the same day. Finally it has opted for doing it separately and can guarantee that the two Barcelona teams can contest the tournament".
