Calendar of FC Barcelona

LaLiga confirmed on Friday the date and time of the 10 matches corresponding to matchday 24. FC Barcelona will host Rayo Vallecano in Montjuïc on an unusual day: Monday, February 17. For the first time this season, the team managed by Hansi Flick will play an official match on a Monday, taking advantage of the break that the Barça calendar provides in mid-February due to the UEFA Champions League 'play-off'.

Barça secured its direct passage to the round of 16 of the top European club competition after the historic comeback against Benfica (4-5), meaning the culés will have two full weeks of rest in mid-February. The home and away matches of the Champions play-off will take place between Tuesday, February 11, and Wednesday, February 19. For now, Atlético de Madrid (5th) also avoids the playoff, but Real Madrid (16th) would be required to play the two extra matches.

Therefore, LaLiga has decided to schedule the Barça match for Monday, February 17, at 21:00 hours, while 'colchoneros' and 'merengues' play on Saturday, February 15, against Osasuna and Celta, respectively. Previously, the culés will visit Sevilla on Sunday, February 9 (also at 21:00), while the first match of February will take place on Sunday, February 2, at an unusual time (14:00 CEST) against Alavés. That week, the team also has the quarter-final match of the Copa del Rey pending, at Mestalla against Valencia (Thursday, February 6 at 21:30).

Barça hasn't played on a Monday since May 2024

The last time Barça played a league match on a Monday was on May 13, 2024. On that day, the team managed by Xavi Hernández defeated Real Sociedad in Montjuïc (2-0), with goals from Lamine Yamal in the first half and Raphinha, from a penalty at the end. The match corresponding to matchday 35 only had the second place in the table at stake, as Real Madrid had already secured the title by that time.
