Flick is clear: Barça must improve in defense and add 3 more points to win LaLiga

FC Barcelona practically sealed the LaLiga title after defeating Real Madrid in the Clásico of matchday 35 (4-3). The 'culés' now have a 7-point advantage with only 3 matches to play, so they are one win, two draws, or a 'merengue' slip-up away from sealing a well-deserved championship.

After the victory in Montjuïc, Hansi Flick valued the team's reaction, which again had to come back from two goals down to win a match clearly conditioned by the refereeing errors. 

"For the fans and players, it's fantastic. Real Madrid has a great team, but we have managed to come back from 0-2. And after the match in Milan, with 120 minutes, it wasn't easy," the coach began by saying.

In that sense, the 'azulgrana' coach emphasized the importance of improving the defensive work, since the team, in the last five matches, conceded 13 goals between Copa, Liga, and Champions.

"It's easy to say if you score four... okay... they score three on you. We have to improve a lot in defense. When we press, everything is fine, but if you make a mistake, especially in the first goal, it gets complicated," Flick argued.

In addition, he made it clear that, beyond the importance of the victory against Madrid and how close the 'culés' are to the Liga title, the team "doesn't feel like champion" and, therefore, will not lower the intensity in the final stretch of the season.

"It would be good to get three titles and we only need one victory. This is football, we are in a good position, but you never know what will happen. We need three points and all the rivals want to beat us," added the coach from Heidelberg.

"Three points are enough and that's what we wanted today. Coming back after two goals is incredible. All the fans are happy"

On the other hand, the coach, who completed an unprecedented full house in four Clásicos this season against Madrid, analyzed the keys to why the 'azulgrana' team has been clearly superior to its rival this season from beginning to end.

"It's fantastic to get the three points. The intensity we have in training is very important. They compete very well. It hasn't been easy always having a match every three days, but I'm very happy with the team's attitude," Flick explained.

In addition, he stressed the need to work more on the defensive aspect for next season. "Real Madrid has very good players who know how to attack us and it's not easy to defend. We make mistakes and we have to improve. It's not easy to train and learn with so many matches in a row."

Finally, he added: "We always want to improve after each match. We have a lot of potential and I want to celebrate this victory. We have to keep working. The atmosphere is incredible."

Barça will return to work on Tuesday to prepare for the Catalan derby against Espanyol (Thursday at 9:30 PM). If Madrid loses or draws on Wednesday, the 'culés' will take the field in Cornellà with the 28th Liga title in their pocket.
