The president of the CENAFE coaching school, Miguel Galán, has filed an appeal with the National Commission of Markets and Competition (CNMC), arguing that the economic control of LaLiga, headed by Javier Tebas, is illegal. Although the financial fair play rule has made it difficult to hire and renew players, it has been accepted by most clubs.

In a 15-page document, Galán denounces an abuse of power by the employers, which prevents clubs from going to the transfer market:

The object of the complaint is based on the abuse of a dominant position by the National Professional Football League (LNFP), which infringes article 102 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union and article 2 of the Defense of Competition Law (LDC). The LNFP, inspired by the UEFA financial control model, imposes strict economic control on clubs”

Galán believes that strict economic control, beyond wanting to guarantee the financial stability of the teams, generates an “effective restriction on competition.”. In addition, he indicates that this model “masks an abuse of power that harms the competitiveness of clubs with lower incomes.”

Miguel Galán speaks out about Getafe, one of the affected clubs

Rule 1:1 has not only affected Barça with its registrations, but also clubs with a lower salary mass, such as Getafe. The Madrid team had to sell the Nigerian Christantus Uche, who will be transferred to Wolverhampton for 16 million euros, to resolve their financial situation.

“I am forced to sell him, we are ruining LaLiga by forcing us to sell”, lamented Miguel Ángel Torres, president of the azulón team, who did not want to part with the player, but needed to get out of Uche to reinforce other positions.

One of the main reasons why Miguel Galán denounced LaLiga is because he is an avowed fan of Getafe. “What motivated me to file this complaint is what is happening with Getafe and Uche. I have been a Getafe fan all my life. I have been a player and coach for Getafe in the lower categories,” he told ABC.

Miguel Galán has been a defender of Dani Olmo's registration

Miguel Galán has not only spoken for Getafe, but also for Barça, specifically in the case of Dani Olmo, who has been able to play thanks to a resolution from the Higher Sports Council (CSD). However, on April 23, Javier Tebas filed an appeal with the National Court to block the CSD's decision.

“Dani Olmo could NOT be left without a card on September 1 if Barça does not reach rule 1:1”, Galán explained on his X account, arguing that thanks to the CSD resolution, both Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, now at Sporting Braga, were able to play during the second part of 24/25. In addition, the RFEF alleged that “there is no federative resolution that agreed to the cancellation of the licenses.”

The president of CENAFE emphasizes that Olmo has been protected by a precautionary measure from the CSD since January. For this reason, he believes that the ruling of the National Court on Tebas' appeal will be in favor of Barça.
