Roony Bardghji celebrated his first official goal with Barça in the comeback against Betis. The Swede, who had a great first half as a right winger, scored the partial 1-3 with a notable finish
FC Barcelona completed a brutal comeback, their sixth so far in LaLiga EA Sports 2025/26, against Betis at La Cartuja in an unforgettable matchday for Roony Bardhji. The Swede, in the 31st minute, scored the third goal for the Catalan side to celebrate, in his tenth official match as a Culer, his first goal with Barça.
The 19-year-old forward received a through ball from Pedri and left Natan behind to unleash a very powerful right-footed shot, unstoppable for the goalkeeper Valles, who also conceded three goals from Ferran Torres before halftime.
Hansi Flick opted for Roony on the right wing, moving Lamine Yamal to the center, as an attacking midfielder due to the absence of Dani Olmo and the substitutions of Raphinha and Fermín López. Marcus Rashford, for his part, occupied the left flank, with 'El Tiburón' as the '9'.

The '19' was key in the comeback by the Catalans, participating in three of Barça's four goals in the first half. In the 11th minute, the Swede threaded a first-time pass to Koundé, allowing the Frenchman to break down the right and cross towards Ferran, who anticipated Natan to finish past Valles, rooted to his spot.
112 seconds after the 1-1 tie, Roony reappeared to cause damage down the flank. This time, **the Swede easily dribbled past Valentín Gómez**, sent a well-placed cross into the heart of the box, and 'El Tiburón', with a perfect volley, shot past Valles to put the Catalans ahead.
The Flick plan worked out perfectly, distracting the Betis defense with a very mobile Lamine, doing the 'dirty work' as an attacking midfielder to free up space on the flanks. The '10' put in a notable shift, both in pressing and recovering the ball. Just like in the Barça-Betis Copa round of 16 match (5-1), the Blaugrana forwards destroyed the 'Verdiblanca' defense.
Historic: Roony is the first player born in Kuwait to score in LaLiga
In addition to being the third Swedish forward to score for Barcelona, after Henrik Larsson and Zlatan Ibrahimović, Roony Bardghji made history by becoming the first Kuwait-born footballer to score in LaLiga.
Bardghji has Syrian ancestry and arrived in Sweden in 2012 to join the youth ranks of the humble Kallinge SK. After a spell at Rödeby and Malmo, he signed for Copenhagen in 2021. There he caught the attention of Deco, who bet on his signing this summer.
In recent weeks, Roony had played little for Hansi Flick and there was already talk of a possible winter loan. However, the forward took a step forward against Betis, showcasing his quality on the right wing, where he feels most comfortable on the field.
