Hansi Flick saw his second red card in LaLiga in the Barça-Girona match. The Barça coach was sent off in stoppage time by Jesús Gil Manzano and will not be able to manage the Clásico next Sunday

FC Barcelona defeated Girona with a goal from Ronald Araujo in the 90+3' minute. In a match rained out in Montjuïc with many wasted opportunities by both teams, Hansi Flick found a solution by putting Araujo at '9'. The coach, however, suffered bad news: he will not be able to manage the Clásico next matchday against Real Madrid due to suspension.

In the 90th minute, Flick made a verbal complaint to Jesús Gil Manzano after the added time was confirmed. The Extremaduran referee only added 4 minutes, very little for a second half where both teams made their five substitutions.

The German couldn't contain his frustration, and Gil Manzano caught his disapproving gesture. Without hesitation, the head referee, who minutes earlier had overlooked a clear slap to the face of Vitor Reis by Marcus Rashford (expulsion and penalty), showed the Barça coach the red card.

Despite the expulsion, Flick remained at the mouth of the tunnel during added time. After Araujo's stunning goal, the manager unleashed a euphoric celebration, including a middle finger caught by the cameras that could cost the Heidelberg native a few more matchdays of suspension.

Hansi is not usually prone to this type of reaction, but the context of the Barça-Girona match was conducive to madness: intense rain in Montjuïc, a possible third consecutive setback for Barcelona, and terrible refereeing, as is often the case in LaLiga.

Well, Flick drained all the emotional charge from a match where Barça could well have gone into halftime losing, with a wild, but justified, celebration. Unfortunately, for the first time since his arrival on the Barça bench, the German will not be able to lead the team in a Clásico.

Second expulsion for Hansi Flick in LaLiga

For Hansi Flick, Saturday's match was his second expulsion in LaLiga. Last season, the Barça coach also saw red from referee Alejandro Muñiz Ruiz in the match against Betis (2-2) played at the Benito Villamarín.

In the 65th minute of the match corresponding to matchday 16 of the 24/25 season, the manager was sent off for protesting a penalty in favor of the 'verdiblancos', sanctioned after VAR review.

On that occasion, Flick complied with the expulsion by going to the television booth area for the rest of the match. Against Girona, as there were only a few minutes left in the match, the German remained on the side of the bench.
