This is the state of Barça's infirmary ahead of Alavés: one recovery and two new absences

Barça receives Alavés this Saturday with the expected return of Pedri. However, Hansi Flick loses two new players for matchday 14 of LaLiga

The Barcelona Football Club infirmary will have a total of four staff members for matchday 14 of LaLiga EA Sports 2025/26. Pedri González, out since the first Clásico of the season against Real Madrid due to a left femoral biceps injury, has received medical clearance and will be able to play against Alavés after a month out.

The 22-year-old midfielder was expected to be available last Tuesday against Chelsea, but he ultimately did not accumulate the necessary number of training sessions to be included in the Champions League squad. Finally, the '8' returns this Saturday to the Spotify Camp Nou, where he already won a league title in 2023, being a key player in the Barça setup

This season, Pedri has scored two goals and provided assists in 13 appearances (1,099 minutes) for Hansi Flick's team. Before his injury, the player from Tenerife was the only member of the Barça squad to start every game, as well as the leader in minutes played. Against Alavés, the coaching staff plans to give him about 15 minutes of action in the second half.

Pedri Returns, but Fermín and Araújo are Out

The good news of the return of the player from Tegueste, however, contrasts with two new absences against Alavés. **Fermín López** will miss matchday 14 of LaLiga and, probably, **Barcelona's next three games** due to a minor injury in his right soleus

The player from Huelva started in the team's last seven matches, scoring 5 goals and providing 4 assists. In this way, Flick loses the midfielder at Barça's best moment, although he regains Pedri, the brain of the Catalan team in recent years.

The other forced absence against Alavés will be Ronald Araujo. Hansi Flick confirmed that the 'charrúa' missed the last two training sessions due to a stomach virus and, therefore, will be out on Saturday. The same happened the previous matchday with Marcus Rashford, absent against Athletic due to flu-like symptoms.

The Englishman, however, will be back for matchday 14 of La Liga, as will Frenkie de Jong. The Dutchman served his suspension last weekend, after receiving a second yellow card at Balaídos before the international break

Gavi and Ter Stegen, Barcelona's Only Long-Term Absences

Thus, Pablo Gavi and Marc-André ter Stegen remain Barça's only long-term absentees. The Andalusian will likely be out until the end of February after undergoing arthroscopy on his right knee. The goalkeeper is expected to be medically cleared in the coming weeks, after completing his recovery from lumbar surgery.
