Barça did their homework against Alavés at home and are now LaLiga leaders with 34 points, 2 more than Real Madrid, awaiting what happens with the Whites' visit to Girona

FC Barcelona returned to the top of LaLiga EA Sports on matchday 14. The Catalan team's victory against Alavés (3-1) allowed Hansi Flick's men to reach 34 points, two ahead and with one more game played than Real Madrid. Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo, with a brace, scored the goals for the comeback.

Alavés took an early lead with a goal from **Pablo Ibáñez** in the 1st minute, but Barça reacted immediately with a goal from Lamine, his first at Spotify Camp Nou, in the 8th minute. Olmo, in the 26th minute, put the home team ahead, who despite their dominance for much of the match, only managed to extend their lead in the 90+3rd minute, once again through Dani with Yamal as the assist provider.

With the victory, **Barcelona now has 34 points and a goal difference of +23**. Real Madrid is now obliged to win on Sunday away against Girona (21:00 CEST) to regain the lead in matchday 14. A draw or defeat for 'Los Blancos' at Montilivi will keep Flick's team at the top of the tournament

Real Madrid are coming off two consecutive draws, against Rayo Vallecano (0-0) and Elche (2-2). Barcelona, meanwhile, have racked up four straight victories after their comeback win against Alavés and, for the second consecutive matchday, are putting pressure on Real Madrid by temporarily seizing the top spot.

Flick's men recovered from their defeat against Chelsea and now have their sights set on Atlético Madrid. Next Tuesday at Camp Nou, Barça and Atlético will play their rescheduled match from Matchday 19 (9:00 PM CEST), due to the Spanish Super Cup being played in January.

Matchday 14 of La Liga, on the other hand, began on Friday with Getafe's victory over Elche (1-0). On Saturday, Mallorca and Osasuna drew in Palma (2-2). After Barça-Alavés, Levante will host Athletic Bilbao and Atlético Madrid will play against Oviedo.

On Sunday, in addition to Girona vs. Real Madrid, Real Sociedad and Villarreal play early in the day in San Sebastián. Later, the Seville derby between Sevilla and Betis will be played at the Sánchez Pizjuán, while Celta Vigo hosts Espanyol. Matchday 14 concludes on Monday with Rayo Vallecano vs. Valencia.
