Barça defeated Oviedo (1-3) and have once again moved within 2 points of Real Madrid in the fight for the LaLiga 25/26 lead. This is how the standings are after matchday 6!

Calendar of FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona and Real Madrid continue their head-to-head battle for the lead after six matchdays played in LaLiga EA Sports 2025/26. On Thursday, the team led by Hansi Flick once again won convincingly, this time at the Estadio Carlos Tartiere, with a win against Oviedo (1-3), a result that allows the 'culés' to once again be within 2 points of the 'merengues'.

Joan García committed a very costly error in the 33rd minute, with a bad pass that allowed Alberto Reina to score, into an empty net, the first goal of the match. The 'culés', thanks to the changes introduced by Flick in the second half, reacted in time to avoid another setback.

The coach put Frenkie de Jong in for Marc Casadó at halftime. Barça managed to equalize with a goal from Eric García in the 56th minute and, in the 70th minute, took the lead with a goal from Robert Lewandowski. The Pole, assisted by De Jong, had only been on the field for six minutes. In the 88th minute, Ronald Araujo scored the third, with a header after a corner served by Marcus Rashford.

With the defeat, Oviedo remains in the bottom of the standings, with 3 points, one more than Mallorca (19th) and Girona (20th). Real Madrid, for now, is the only team with a perfect score after six matchdays played (18).

On Tuesday, Madrid had done their homework in their visit to the Ciutat de Valencia. Vinicius opened the scoring in the 28th minute with a remarkable toe-poke finish and, ten minutes later, assisted Franco Mastantouno to leave the match almost settled before halftime.

Karl Etta Eyong scored for Levante in the 54th minute, but a penalty by Unai Elgezabal on Kylian Mbappé in the 62nd minute buried all hope of a comeback for the Valencians. The Frenchman converted the penalty in the 64th minute and, two minutes later, took advantage of an assist from Arda Güler to leave Ryan stranded and settle the dispute.

Real Madrid, in this way, secured finishing as leaders for one more matchday, with 18 points in 6 matchdays. Levante, on the other hand, dropped to 17th place. Similarly, 'culés' and 'merengues' are already starting to pull away from the rest, with 5 and 3 points of advantage over the third-placed team after six matchdays played.

Also on Tuesday, Villarreal (3rd) obtained a valuable away win against Sevilla (1-2), while Espanyol (4th) and Valencia drew at Cornellà (2-2). Andalusians and Valencians, for now, occupy the 12th and 11th positions, respectively. In addition, in Bilbao, Athletic and Girona also drew (1-1). The Basques are sixth and the Catalans are last.
