Barça's victory against Girona (2-1) allows Hansi Flick's team to surpass Real Madrid by one point. This is how the fight for the LaLiga leadership is going
FC Barcelona climbed back to the top of LaLiga thanks to a last-minute victory against Girona (2-1). The team managed by Hansi Flick had taken the lead with a great goal from Pedri González in the 13th minute, but Axel Witsel made it 1-1 in the 20th minute. Finally, the 'culés' had to wait until stoppage time to regain the advantage.
In the 93rd minute, Frenkie de Jong broke down the right, sending a pass into the heart of the area where Araujo anticipated the opposing center-backs like a true '9'. Sliding in, the Uruguayan finished to cross the ball, leaving Gazzaniga, who until that moment had been the star of the match with 7 saves, without options.
With the victory, Barça reaches 22 points and once again surpasses Real Madrid. The 'merengues' visit Getafe on Sunday (9:00 PM CEST) and are obliged to win to regain the lead.

Barcelona Could Head into the First Clásico of the Season as Leaders

And the thing is, in the event of a draw at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez, Madrid will remain in second place in the standings, even if they equal Barça's 22 points. The Azulgrana team maintains an advantage due to goal difference (+14), thanks to their lethal offense.
Hansi Flick's team has scored 24 goals for and 10 against after 9 matchdays, a factor that may allow the 'Culés' to maintain the lead prior to the first Clásico of the season. Next Sunday the 26th, at 4:15 PM, Barça will visit the Santiago Bernabéu looking for their fifth consecutive victory against the 'Casa Blanca'.
In their last visit to Chamartín, the *culés* won by a landslide (0-4), with goals from Robert Lewandowski (double), Raphinha, and Lamine Yamal. The Pole, unfortunately, is ruled out due to injury for Matchday 10, while the Brazilian is still being handled with care.
This is how the rest of Matchday 9 of LaLiga will be played

On Saturday, Villarreal-Betis and Atlético-Osasuna also play, with the 'Yellow Submarine' and the 'Colchoneros' looking to settle in the upper area of the table. Marcelino's men, however, let slip a two-goal lead against the 'verdiblancos' (2-2).
On Sunday, in addition to Getafe-Real Madrid, there will also be action between Elche and Athletic in the early hours. Later, Celta-Real Sociedad and Levante-Rayo will be played.
