Several Spanish football sectors begin to show signs of tiredness due to the attitude of Real Madrid and its campaign against the arbitration collective
In the Retiro Park in the city of Madrid, at the Cecilio Rodríguez Gardens Pavilion, an important meeting took place between various sectors of Spanish football: the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA), LaLiga, and several club executives. A summit was held to discuss various topics, with particular emphasis on the constant pressure exerted by Real Madrid towards the referee collective, intensified in recent matchdays.
It is important to remember that, following the controversial events in the match between Real Madrid and RCD Espanyol (matchday 22 of LaLiga EA Sports), the white club sent a letter to the RFEF copied to the CSD. In the letter, among other things, a serious accusation was made, branding the refereeing system as a tool used to "manipulate and tamper with the competition" due to decisions made against them.
Several sectors are already tired of Real Madrid's attitude
This attitude has caused great discontent in several sectors, such as in LaLiga, where Javier Tebas is the official spokesperson. Additionally, some club representatives have expressed their complaints, such as Real Betis' president, Ángel Haro, and Athletic Club's president, Jon Uriarte.
Even the FC Barcelona coach, Hansi Flick, while not delving into the issue, made his position clear by subtly criticizing the Madrid team. Other sectors, like Atlético de Madrid, have preferred to use irony to criticize the whining attitude of Real Madrid, which seems to be facing consequences for its campaign against Spanish refereeing.
A sanction for Real Madrid due to its campaign against Spanish refereeing, a possible scenario?
According to various sources, during the meeting held this Thursday among the aforementioned sectors (the RFEF, the CTA, LaLiga, and the teams), in addition to condemning the attitude of the white team (especially for the role played by Real Madrid TV and its controversial videos), the option of imposing consequences or some form of sanction for its campaign against refereeing in Spain was raised. This request reportedly received broad support from the clubs.
"Real Madrid is not only disrespecting the rest of the clubs and the referees but also showing that they do not want to be just one more", commented a source present at the meeting to 'Relevo'. It is worth noting that the Chamartín team did not attend the meeting, despite initially confirming their attendance.
The absence of the Madrid club, apparently the only one that did not send a representative to this meeting, reflects a new standoff on the part of Real Madrid, to which all the involved sectors, starting with the RFEF, must stand firm and not yield to any kind of pressure.
