Leo Messi spoke with 'SPORT' during his brief visit to Barcelona and Spotify Camp Nou. 'The Flea' does not hide his desire to live in Catalonia again, as well as to share with the Culer fans at the Stadium

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Leo Messi's visit to Spotify Camp Nou on Sunday night revived the hopes of Barça fans for a possible return of 'La Pulga' to FC Barcelona. The Argentine '10' took advantage of his national team's training camp in Alicante, for the November FIFA international break, to see the renovated culé temple, just over four years after leaving Barça.

Furthermore, the current Inter Miami forward took the opportunity to visit what will always be his home. In a chat with the newspaper 'SPORT', Messi made his future plans clear. He and his family expect to return to live in Catalonia once his football career comes to an end

"We miss Barcelona a lot... The kids constantly, and my wife, we talk about things from Barcelona, the idea of living there again. We have our house, everything, so it's what we want," Leo explained.

Likewise, 'La Pulga' reiterated his desire to share his affection with Barça fans once again. Leo could not say goodbye to the *culers* in 2021 due to the pandemic's health restrictions, but he hopes to visit the Spotify Camp Nou when the club definitively returns to Les Corts

"I'm really looking forward to returning to the stadium when it's finished because since I left for Paris, I haven't been back to the Camp Nou either, and then they moved to Montjuïc. It will be exciting to relive and remember everything that my time at the club was, even if the stadium is different."

In that sense, Messi reiterated that he always thought about playing his whole life at Barça, in addition to thanking the affection of the people and the value of the history achieved in his more than two decades at the club and the city.

"It was a bit strange the farewell too, because of the situation, because of everything. But hey, I think the fans' affection will always be there for everything we've been through." Furthermore, Leo made it clear that he follows the team's current events from Miami, along with former Barça players on the Inter Miami roster (Busquets, Alba, Suárez).

Is Messi's return to Barça under Flick possible?

During his chat with 'SPORT', Leo did avoid talking about a possible return to Barça as a player, whether through a loan or transfer. The '10' recently renewed with the 'herons' until 2028 and, although he could negotiate a winter loan, at the moment **it is not an option contemplated by the parties**.

Barça does not plan to make any signings in the winter transfer window, and assuming Leo's salary, even if only for the first few months of 2026, is not easy to resolve for the Blaugrana finances. The club still needs to resolve the return to the 1:1 rule, which must materialize once the team returns to playing at Camp Nou

Furthermore, several renewals are pending (Eric García, Andreas Christensen, Robert Lewandowski...) and, as far as forwards are concerned, Hansi Flick has enough alternatives to sustain the extremely high offensive production of the Culés (almost 3 goals per game) that has characterized the team during the German's tenure.

Logically, Messi would be a luxury reinforcement, but for now the Rosario native is only thinking about trying to win his first **MLS Cup** and, afterwards, arriving in good physical condition for what will be his last World Cup with Argentina.

Regarding this, Leo commented: "I don't want to be a burden, in quotation marks, I want to feel good physically, be sure that I can help and contribute things to the group, to the squad... Obviously, the World Cup is the biggest thing there is at a competitive level. So I'm excited, but taking it day by day."

Adaptation Problems in Paris and the Difference with Miami

On the other hand, Leo Messi recalled how he approached his two seasons at Paris Saint-Germain. The Argentine forward stated that, although the city is fantastic and the club did everything possible to make him feel comfortable, he never felt good from a footballing perspective, from training to his work on the field.

"It was the first time we left Barcelona and everything was new to us, and that's why it was also very difficult," because it wasn't an injury but it happened like that... But the truth is I didn't feel good day-to-day with what I like to do."

"(In Miami) I have a very similar life to the one I had in Castelldefels, with the club nearby, the children's school very close too, everything within reach, comfortable"
