One of the great absences in the FC Barcelona expedition that departed on July 25 to Japan for the start of the preseason tour of Asian territory was that of the club's sporting director, Anderson Luis da Souza, Deco. Sources reported that the Portuguese executive stayed in the Condal City to, from his office in the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, try to resolve several folders that the Azulgrana team has pending to finalize in terms of departures.
Deco will travel on his own to join Barça in South Korea
However, Deco's absence from the Barça squad currently based in Seoul will soon come to an end. According to SPORT, the former player of Barcelona, Porto and other clubs has finally decided to travel on his own to South Korea.
Under this premise, it is expected that Deco, who —as the aforementioned source points out— took a regular flight in Barcelona with a stopover in China, will land this Thursday in the Korean capital. From there, he would seek to hold a meeting with both the Barça president, Joan Laporta, and the board of directors, as well as with the German coach, Hansi Flick.
The Portuguese would join the Azulgrana group in a move that borders on the surprising. It should not be overlooked that the Barça team, already next week, after the match against Daegu (08/04), will be back in the Catalan capital.
Open folders in the market: Romeu, Iñaki Peña and possible departures
At this point, it is worth remembering that Barcelona has several open folders to resolve in the transfer market. In principle, the two most pressing seem to be the resolution of the cases of Oriol Romeu, who stayed in Catalonia without joining the Azulgrana squad that is currently in Asia; and that of Iñaki Peña, one who did travel, but who definitely does not give the impression of counting for Hansi Flick's sports project, being relegated to the position of fourth goalkeeper.
Likewise, it is not ruled out that the Portuguese executive may be working on other departures, as has been rumored recently, with players like Héctor Fort and Jan Virgili, who have been quite frequently at the forefront of the controversy in this summer window.
For different reasons, both could be subject to sale. In a time when, given the apparent need to register players and regularize the situation with financial fair play, it is not ruled out to make some other unexpected transfer.
