Xabi Alonso responds to the controversy over Franco chants at the Bernabéu. What did the coach say about it?
Franco Mastantuono debuted with Real Madrid last Tuesday against Osasuna at the Santiago Bernabéu and the chant 'Franco, Franco' was aimed at him, which has sparked a controversy. It is worth noting that the name of the Argentine midfielder coincides with the surname of the Spanish dictator Francisco Franco, which has led to uncomfortable situations.
Franco Mastantuono has remained in the eye of the storm for the chants towards him, which trivialize the Spanish authoritarian, also for his registration in the Castilla reserve team to bypass Financial Fair Play.
Real Madrid does not allow printing the jersey with the name 'Franco'
Although in recent days a large part of the 'merengue' fans have acclaimed Franco Mastantuono's jersey, it has not been possible to print the shirt with the name 'Franco'.
"We are sorry. Our personalization policy does not allow the use of this name," is what appears on the Real Madrid website when they try to print the jersey with the word 'Franco', generating discontent among the white fans.
Real Madrid's veto would only apply to the name 'Franco' and to star players from rival teams, such as FC Barcelona or Atlético de Madrid. A user complained that they did not allow personalizing the jersey with 'Franco', but did allow messages like 'Gora ETA' or names like 'Stalin' and 'José Bretón', who murdered his children.
Hello @realmadrid according to your policies, putting "Franco" on a jersey on your website is not allowed.

However, other names like "Stalin" are allowed, what is your policy based on?
I hope you rectify this and stop trying not to call someone by their name. pic.twitter.com/5OfctSjLRV
Xabi Alonso has only praise for Mastantuono
When asked about the cheering for Franco Mastantuono by his name, Xabi Alonso made it very clear that he has not spoken with Mastantuono about the topic and explained that he has seen the '30' 'merengue' doing very well since his arrival.
"I haven't spoken [with him], but I focus on the player and I see Franco is doing well, he's having a good relationship with his teammates and it seems like he's been here longer than he has. I see him with a smile."
Mastantuono is part of the squad for this Sunday's match against Real Oviedo for matchday 2 of LaLiga EA Sports 25/26. Will it be another day of cheers for 'Franco'?
