Real Madrid surprises with a decision that excites its fans

The Santiago Bernabéu is one of the temples of Spanish and world football. The stadium of the Real Madrid is one of the most representative elements of the institution and, bearing the name of the historic president of the white club from 1943 to 1978, it has established itself as one of the main references in world sports.

However, the newspaper 'Marca' has reported that the Madrid board, led by Florentino Pérez, has made the decision to change the name of the stadium. The idea of the white leadership is to get rid of the 'Santiago' and have the white fortress be called simply Bernabéu.

Madrid has started the change gradually

The Madrid has begun this surprising change with great caution. For now, the stadium's website is called 'Bernabéu' and the club, through its media, has started to refer to it as 'Bernabéu Stadium'. Additionally, the official profile of the venue on its social media has the same designation, and the tour of the venue has been renamed 'Bernabéu Tour'.

For the moment, all these moves respond to marketing issues, although it cannot be ruled out that in the future the name of the stadium could be accompanied by a sponsorship added to the naming, as has been done by FC Barcelona with Spotify and Atlético de Madrid with Riyadh Air. However, this change would have to be approved by the members, who may not be very in favor of this decision.
