The Spanish Super Cup, in its 42nd edition, will have to be decided by a Clásico for the eleventh time in the history of the trophy created in 1982. FC Barcelona and Real Madrid will star in another final next Sunday at the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia (8:00 PM), the fourth consecutive final between the two teams, all played on Saudi soil.

The 2023 and 2024 editions were decided in Riyadh, while in 2025 and 2026 the tournament was played in Jeddah. The record in finals, for now, favors Madrid with 7 wins and 3 losses, although since the implementation of the current format, Barça has won 2 out of 3 finals against the 'merengues'.

With the format of a two-legged final, there were 7 finals, 6 of them won by the 'White House'. The Blaugrana team, however, is the top winner of the trophy with 15 titles, the four most recent obtained in the last decade. Madrid follows closely, with 13 trophies

Barça goes for its fourth Super Cup against Real Madrid

Barça broke a streak of four consecutive Supercopa finals lost to Real Madrid in **2011**. The team then led by **Pep Guardiola** won with **a 5-4 aggregate score**, after drawing in the first leg at the Bernabéu (2-2) and winning the second leg at Camp Nou (3-2).

In 2023, with Xavi Hernández on the bench, the Culés also managed to win the Super Cup in a Clásico, this time in a single match in Arabia (1-3), The Blaugrana team won with goals from Gavi, Robert Lewandowski, and Pedri. Karim Benzema scored a consolation goal at the end for the Whites.

In the latest edition, that of 2025, with Hansi Flick already on the bench, Barça crushed Real Madrid (2-5) to maintain their hegemony as the Supercopa's top winner. The 'merengues' took an early lead with a goal from Kylian Mbappé, but **Lamine Yamal**, **Lewandowski**, **Raphinha**, and **Alejandro Balde** sealed the final before halftimeRapha scored the fifth in the opening minutes of the second half. However, Szczesny's expulsion and a free-kick goal by Rodrygo prevented a much more scandalous rout in favor of the Catalans.

Next Sunday, Flick's team arrives as clear favorites, with nine consecutive victories in all competitions, eight of them by a minimum margin of two goals. Madrid won their last five matches, but still fails to convince in terms of collective play and Xabi Alonso knows that a defeat in the final will likely seal his dismissal as 'merengue' coach.
